From the IGN preview of the Lois Lane one shot, out this week, written by Marguerite Bennett, art by Emanuela Lupacchino.

Lois Lane is known for chasing down stories — but what happens when the story is her family? As her father gains more power in the government, Lois’s sister Lucy has become involved with a deadly drug scene! Meanwhile, Lois thought she was rid of the influence of Brainiac, but now she finds that the the computer tyrant of Colu is calling out to her again!

Looks like this will be tying into this rather controversial Superman plot point.

We start with a cute flashback to Lucy and Lois (Who Lucy calls "Lola") as kids, if you check out the link you'll see it doesn't end well.

And then to the present

And the redoubtable dcwomenkickingass has an interview with Marguerite here, which I heartily rwecommend reading.

I don't feel I know anything about this version of Lois Lane (probably because I have bought exactly one Superman comci since the whole "New 52" thing, so not sure if I think she'll work as a solo character, but then, her new distance from Clark and Superman might make an interesting starting point for a continuing series if they go down that road.

Curious to see how this goes! If it's anything like New 52!Lana Lang over at Greg Pak's Action Comics, maybe I'll like it.

Is it just me or does everyone seem to have a lot of childhood memories involving tree climbing in the New 52?

I agree with you about not knowing anything about "this" Lois Lane. I would have been excited if it had been a pre-reboot Lois who had a well-defined personality (and did so right out of the gate from Byrne's Man of Steel) but the DCnU seems to have been purposely back-burnered, made less important than Jimmy Olsen (in the beginning at least), doesn't seem to have much a relationship with Clark, Lois, Jimmy (at least nothing comparable) and gave up being a reporter for an executive's job behind a desk. Like many in the DCnU she seems mostly (except here and there with Morrison and Snyder), new character, old name.

Lois has been especially shelved since they decided to make Supes and Wondy a couple.

Only if you consider his non-stop humiliation and torment at Pre-Crisis Lucy's hands "going steady".
