Cover to Amazing X-Men # 3

Azazel makes a speech that constitutes him patting himself on the back a lot, so he’s basically in classic villain mode.

Azazel and his men get a whif of Bamf and are suspicious it may be Nightcrawler, but what they find instead is one cold and wet Hank McCoy – wrong furry blue man. Azazel continues to troll the X-Men and Beast does what he’ does best (when he isn’t a jerk), using his intellect, agility and feet to help defeat the baddy.

But Beast is caught by surprise with an actual knife to the back, sending him to lose his balance and fall into the water but he manages to grab onto the ships edge.

Enter Ororo Monroe who has been taken captive by a band of notoriously awful men from earths history who have been made pirates by Azazel, they are finding that she is not so willing to play helpless damsel. This is the Storm I like, while powerless, she is using anything at her disposal to defend herself and the X-Men.

As Storm struggles with her opponents she is greeted with a wonderful surprise!

Her dead and missed close friend Kurt Wagner! YAAAY!

And he's being awesome and stuff with the help of his little bamf buddies. Of course Kurt is loving the odds as it leads him to some of his favorite things - swashing and buckling! But not without injecting some self-depreciating humor.

Obviously Ororo is overwhelmed, they both are and Kurt, the big ole softy he is is ready to cry (*snif-snif*) but not before kicking ass alongside Ororo. They both make short work of the pirates.

It seems the sword that Beast was stabbed with caused him to go feral leaving Kurt to cut his reunion with Hank short. D'aaaw.

I'm still enjoying this series for the most part and I'm glad to hear that 1 and 2 sold out and are headed back for more printing. They did not have enough for the demand. I hope this sticks around for a while. It is good fun, and the X-Men appear to actually care about each other which is very rare in X-Men comics these days.
Bonus scans! A history of the Kurt/ Ororo friendsip. It always had a edge of flirtation. I'm not a shipper of a romance between them but I always loved their friendship and the occasional flirting between them. I'm really not up for anything serious with the two what with Ro just getting out of the BP marriage and her sexual relationship with Logan. And with Kurt - I'd like to see him get some serious character development that's he's been lacking for a while and I feel that a relationship would sideline it. I feel they have both been neglected too long and need attention elsewhere IMHO.
So a trip down memory lane Kuroro style!

I wanted to post some relevant art from the late Dave Cockrum, also the creator of Storm, Nightcrawler and the Bamfs (Lockheed too I think).

Date: 2014-02-24 01:13 pm (UTC)Bobby: "Little brothers? All of them? Your old man Azazel… has been really busy."
Kurt: "Indeed. Though the Bamfs didn't begin life as my kin. They were born in the depths of hell.
Their mother was a giant maggot. Their father a changeling in the form of a face-eating lamprey. It was love at first sight, I'm sure.
The babies were forgotten as soon as they were born. Left to die on the brimstone planes. But there they lived. There they survived, in the very shadow of pandemonium, as scavengers, as gremlins, as things lower than the lowest beast of the pit.
And it was there my father found them. On one of his raids. He found them starving, living off the scabs of the damned and the devil's sewage. And so…
…my father fed them. He fed them all the blood they could swallow. His blood. Which changed them, remade them in his image, bound them to his evil will."
Their shape as maggots is really terrifying. Not posting it because we'd probably cross the scan limit.

Date: 2014-02-25 03:57 pm (UTC)I doubt she's slept with more people than Logan who has seemed to have bedded almost everyone in the MU - even a planet. He's just lucky he has a healing factor.

Date: 2014-02-26 11:58 pm (UTC)Agreed, I'd think it highly unlikely she's bedded as many people as Logan. We could reasonably speculate that it would take many years, a deal of travel, and even, as you've mentioned, a healing factor.
Also, are you saying Logan bedded an actual planet, or is that just a grammatical error? Because if it's the former, I'd very much like to see that.
