Mafia goons kidnap Hit-Girl from jail and bring her to Chris Genovese, the Motherfucker.




Chris is shot and wounded.





They end up driving over a bridge into the water. Hit-Girl manages to free herself and rescues Chris. He asks why.

Red Mist should've just died in Kick-Ass 2, like Millar intended.

The dialogue... It doesn't feel authentic. It's like they're acting out roles rather than acting like actual human beings.

At least Millar didn't age Hit-Girl up to match the actress from the movie's (and ergo, the character in the movie's) age.

Millar didn't, but the Kick-Ass 2 director said that he got Millar to hold off on killing him at the end of Kick-Ass 2 because they can't do Kick-Ass 3 without him.

That's the problem with exploitation works--they're fun, but there's no real depth to them, and when the creator gets it in their head to try for some (even for what should be a fairly standard heel-face turn), it's just painful.

He spent an extended amount of time in the hospital where he reflected on his life and how his actions affected his mother.

Although I would like to point out to Chris that all the people he killed had mothers and fathers too, like the kids he shot up, Katie, Dave's own father, etc.

Still, I have to admit, I had a small bout of pity for him in the last scan.

Well her life was effectively ruined by the stigma of his actions and she almost killed him when he was in the hospital for it.

For once, as incredibly ridiculous and fucking stupid as the character has become, I agree with Hit-Girl, because fuck that guy and his ridiculous epiphany of 'oh, I did the bad thing'.

Despite... Well, pretty much *everything*, I do kind of like how it's portrayed here.

Because the one important thing about repentance that tends to get brushed over in stories about redemption and heel face turns?

Just because you've repented, no matter how sincerely, your erstwhile victims are under no obligation to forgive you.

If you're serious about repenting, genuinely sorry for everything you've done, then when the people you try to make amends to tell you "Fuck you, never forgiving you, now get the fuck out of my life" then you accept that and get the fuck out of their life. If that's not what you wanted, tough. It's not even a "sucks to be you", it's "Sucks to have done what you did."


Mercy and forgiveness and redemption are wonderful, beautiful things -- but they're not automatically given.

This is kinda why i like the Carol Danvers/Rogue relationship. Carol accepts that she has reformed, but still doesn't particularly likes being around her because of what she did to her.
