Jubilee brings Wolverine to help out in a fight between her X-Men team (the all-female team that stars these days in adjectiveless X-MEN) and some robots.

In anger and frustration at his fear, Wolverine returns to the Jean Grey School, where he finds that a certain someone's dropped off a web-wrapped gift.

Right, so Agent Monkton was the reporter who Wolverine shot in the head in the first issue. They're playing a long game.

So with X-Men I was glad to see Omega Sentinel being used but bummed to see she was depowered (though she spent more time being mind-controlled than not). However, they've put her to good use as a regular cop with superhuman experience. Very happy.

Also, Jubilee seems to be more fun as a vampire than with her old powers, which, let's be frank, she never used very effectively in fights anyways.

I mean, it'd be bad if they fell into the hands of other vamps, but it makes *sense* for him to be able to aid her.

Given the current sales drops, the new volume of WatXM is probably going to be selling at the old level of 35K within 2 or 3 months. We'll see how long it takes TPTB to decide (again) that X-Kid books don't sell and do some deck clearing.

I don't think I love this idea of Wolvie losing his powers turning all scaredycat....I get that some of this is an affectation but he was doing the same in the last arc as well. I can kinda see how he would feel like he has more to lose now that he's got the school to live for but I dunno....something about the execution seems off to me. I guess I don't like the idea that Logan is only a tough guy when it's not a challenge & I don't feel like that's consistent with other times we've seen him without his healing factor..

My sentiments exactly. I mean, canonically he went by his birth name for maybe 13 years until he started running, and never went back to it, why would he think of himself as James and not Logan?

I have the same problem with writers who have Superman going by Kal, the dude was raised as Clark, birth name or not, he would probably think of himself as Clark.

He's not saying it's weird or irregular that Wolverine doesn't go by James, or that it's some oddity that demands explanation. He says it's meaningful. Something can make perfect sense and also be meaningful.

Actually, I thought Jason Aaron did a pretty good job with him in Wolverine and the X-Men. Once he was put in a position where he did need to do the right thing, he did his best. I'm not going to say he was wonderful, but I bought into his character.

My problem with Aaron's Quire is he bore little resemblance to the Quire that came before.



Aaron's Quire was more of an immature troublemaker.
