Dark Cybertron, Chapter 11 - "Black Planet"

In the present day, Shockwave's army is swarming over Cybertron, and he's preparing to shrink all of time and space into a pinpoint singularity. Things are looking dire all around, basically.







In the end, it's Bumblebee and Megatron who are the first to penetrate to the heart of Shockwave's base in the Crystal City.







Not too far from there, some of the Autobots have gotten into a fight with Shockwave's follower, Bludgeon, and they're not faring well. In the midst of that, Brainstorm finally learns why he's had a growing pain in his chest since the previous issue.

See, Optimus Prime and his team have been trapped in the Dead Universe for the past few issues, but now...

They've always been in this universe. Galvatron is the older of the two, or at least rose to prominence earlier. He was part of Nova Prime's crew, along with Cyclonus and Jhiaxus, and was stuck in the Dead Universe for the majority of the Autobot-Decepticon war. He first appeared back during the -ations. IIRC in Spotlight: Galvatron.

I knew they were separate in this continuity, but I do miss the notion of the past and future version of the same being vying for power between each other.

No worries, there's still a bajillion other versions where they're the same guy. ;)

Personally, I like the throwback to the original toys.

I think probably much much older- Galvatron was old and famous when he left 6 million years ago, having fought in major wars of his own. Megatron got famous roughly 4 million years ago.

Of the modern bots (i.e. ones not on the Ark, or, like, ancient legends to begin with such as Omega Supreme and the Titans), just Rung, Arcee, Shockwave, Dai Atlas, and Tailgate are confirmed to be of that timeframe, iirc.
