As much as I want for this to be the real deal, this is likely a red herring given how Bendis pulled the same stunt with his version of the 'clone saga'. The real Peter probably wouldn't be so flippant and be keeping his aunt in the dark if he had somehow come back to life, given that more than a year comics time has passed since his 'death'.

I have...mixed feelings about this.


Ultimate Peter is probably my favorite version of Spider-Man. (Him or Marvel Adventures Pete.) It would be great to see him back. But, his death was really well done and it would really suck for Miles to shoved out of the spotlight.

I know it's probably a moot point because this is probably Chamleon or one of Peter's leftover clones that got prettied up or something, but still. Mixed feelings.

With that hair, and after having just gone through a marathon of episodes, Peter looks more like Sam from Supernatural than himself here.

Hopefully Ult Pete didn't take pointers from his regular universe counterpart and get possessed along with the deal.

The real Peter probably wouldn't be so flippant and be keeping his aunt in the dark if he had somehow come back to life, given that more than a year comics time has passed since his 'death'.

I could see it - remember that May had a heart attack shortly after Gwen was found alive during the Clone Saga.

But the way the final page is done? I'm not convinced this is Peter, purely because it feels like his resurrection would have more oomph than "I want my stuff back."

Though Norman coming back to life after being killed at roughly the same time is an odd coincidence. Is he responsible? Did Peter in-fact not actually die and was placed in a healing coma, like Superman after his fight with Doomsday? Was he resurrected by SHIELD somehow, and got free when the agency dissolved?

were this a soap opera, and a long time villain were returning, and thier nemisis (who up until thier return) was being played by a different actor, i would be expecting the original actor to come back...* BO AND HOPE 4EVAR (did that make any sense?)

THAT SAID the fact that said villain IS returning that only means that the possibility of shenanigans is ripe.

Still, though, I wish they'd have spent more time expanding Miles as Spider-Man. Like arcing out his own colorful Rogues or whatever.

I love that analogy of telling someone your secret identity being a proposal. Actually, it's probably even more serious than that. Relationships, even marriages, could easily end in a number of manners. Someone knowing your secret doesn't end just because you go your separate ways.

I wonder if there's ever been a scene in any comic where a superhero's marriage ends in a really bitter divorce, and the spouse decides to just reveal the identity out of spite, or to win a custody battle.

Closest I can think of is in Irredeemable when the Lois Lane analogue freaks out/gets pissed off and tells her coworkers the Plutonian's identity after he reveals it to her.

In one of the later issues of Avengers Vol 3 - possibly one of Geoff Johns'? - the fact that Scott Lang is Ant-Man and a known associate of the Avengers (I think; he wasn't a member then) is used to grant his soon-to-be-ex-wife Peggy full custody of their daughter Cassie.

Till then there was another arrangement, like every other weekend she was with him.

I don't know if Peggy reveals in court that he was Ant-Man, though, or if at the time it was general public knowledge, that her lawyer managed to successfully use against Scott.

Why Peter.. aren't you looking SUPERIOR. Though the question has to be if it's Clones again? Who restarted the program? Ult. Ock is dead (possibly, given he perfected the clone procedure maybe he made a duplicate and sent him to be a patsy). The only other possibility is Ult. Ben Reilly is obviously attached to it or this is the long missing Scorpion Clone whose been M.I.A. since Ult. Clone Saga.

Okay, so having thought about the final page, here's what I have to say:

Peter acting so flippant about coming back really seems off, no matter how you look at it - clone, Chameleon, or the real deal, he's got to realise that the world believes that Peter Parker died on his front lawn in Queens two years ago.

If this is really Peter, then it does make sense for him to be alive; his powers come from the Oz formula, which is the same source of Norman's powers & he's died about 5 times now. It also makes sense for Peter to just now be resuming his civilian life, as I can easily see Nick Fury keeping Peter under lock & key now that a) he's publicly known to be Spider-Man, and b) he's supposed to be dead. It makes sense for Peter to have not revealed he was alive to his friends & family since Aunt May had a heart attack shortly after they found out Gwen was alive, although that wasn't the reason why - Peter may just remember the events as being directly connected, due to all of the craziness in the Clone Saga. From a story telling stand point, Peter coming back does open up some interesting story telling possibilities - Barring the year & half between the start of Civil War & the end of One More Day, we've never really had a Spider-Man who was publicly known, for example. And if we can have Spider-Man, Scarlet Spider & Agent Venom running around in the 616 universe, why can't we have both Peter & Miles in the Ultimate universe?

On the other side, it makes some sense to be a clone - the Scorpion clone of Peter was still alive & in S.H.I.E.L.D. custody at the end of the Clone Saga. The only problems with that theory are that the Scorpion's tail was a spinal graft, and the clone was kinda crazy. It would also become apparent it wasn't really Peter when his memories missed out large chunks of what happened between the Clone Saga & his death/resurrection. Bendis also already did the whole "Back from the dead! LOL NOPE, CLONE!" back in the Clone Saga, so whilst Miles defeating a Peter imposter would be a fitting way to cement him as a worthy successor to Peter, it wouldn't be an interesting plot development.

Glad to see someone remembers the clone.

Quite honestly, I've been wondering for years when Bendis was bringing back SClone-pion. It'll be rather interesting to see.

One thing that makes me sad though, is that Miles's dad is still out of his life. If Bendis really wanted to be sadistic, he could probably turn Mr. Morales into a supervillain who wants nothing but to destroy his child for the pain he caused.

...and suddenly, I think I know where we'll get TASM2!Electro in the comics.

I'm actually glad Norman Osborn is alive so then Peter Parker didn't kill anyone.

Or it's clones like it usually is.

I think that when another Earth merged/passed through the Ultimates earth, somehow Miles' dad wound up in an alternate reality and their Peter Parker would up in Ultimates. Either that or SHIELD "killed" a LMD in Spider-Man's place so they could take him into custody.
