Dr. Doom's adopted son, Kristoff Vernard, wants Jennifer Walters's help in obtaining political asylum in the U.S.





Under United States law, a person who enters the country has a one-year window to file an asylum claim, so they need to get themselves before a judge by the end of the day or Kristoff will miss his chance.





She lugs him to a nearby hangar where she knows Reed Richards happens to store an obsolete Fantasti-Car, which they use to fly to the courthouse.

Huh. I'm digging Kristoff in this. A messed up young man who honestly seems to be trying to get his act together. I do hope we see that Doom, in his own twisted and more than a little evil way, does care for Kristoff, though.

Also, is She Hulk getting bigger/stronger as she gets angrier? She looks like she's bursting out of her coat at the airport there.

In Bruce's case, the angrier he gets, the bigger and stronger he becomes, so I wouldn't be surprised if Jennifer, who gained her powers from his blood, can do the same.

it varies some times but yeah, she's more in control than bruce (sometimes) is, but yeah same rules, bigger and stronger the angrier she gets

It's really kind of sweet to have Doom build a robot of Captain America, a dude he's probably not too fond of, so that his son could go on an adventure.

On the other hand, the wet nurse thing is a little weird, given that Kristoff wasn't *that* young when Doom adopted him.

Captain America is Doom's enemy, but he (at least when it's noble doom and not batshit evil girlfriend flaying Doom) tends to have a lot of Doom's respect. Doom can admire a patriot who fights for his people, and is incredibly honorable.

Though it's AU issue 12 of Captain America from Heroes Reborn shows that off a bit.

Doom in general can be surprisingly civil to his foes. Reed Richards being a major exception to the rule, given how personal the rivalry is for Doom.

The stories are impressing me. The art ... is growing on me (or at least tolerating on me?).

This is another fine example where I find the story really attractive, but the artwork kills my interest in wanting to read the book.

I don't think Javier Pulido is a bad artist, it's not the regurgitated 90's-style mess that DC is continuously vomiting up for example, but it feels too flat and lifeless.

Y'know as much as that whole run was firmly in the "Doom is pure evil" camp, I feel like if that plot point ever comes up again it'll be for a writer to dramatically reveal that their noble take on Doom has an unmarred face.

Skimming through this, during most of the scan I thought Kristoff was a middle-aged lesbian lady. I liked the story better that way…

So on the cover, She-Hulk looks heroic and determined, and Doom looks menacing. But the way they're positioned together, especially with the cape looks almost... romantic? Like Doom's all, "Oh, it's windy, have some of my giant cape to keep you warm."

Weird.
