Red Lanterns #24 - "Blood Brothers"
May. 18th, 2014 11:50 pm
"[The Red Lanterns] are all looking for some sort of equilibrium; trying to balance some of the awful things that have happened to them (and their corresponding desire for revenge) against their need to move forward in this strange new existence that has found them." -- Charles Soule
Last issue ended with Bleez overhearing Guy Gardner's secret communication with Hal Jordan, thus discovering that he's a mole for the Green Lantern Corps.
Hal tells him all about the latest cosmic threat du jour, which has been keeping everyone too occupied to exfiltrate Guy. Also, if they're going to beat this threat, they're going to need the Red Lanterns' help.
Also, meanwhile, in another part of the universe, hijinks continue with Atrocitus and Dex-Starr. The former's plan to merge with the rage entity (like Hal once merged with Parallax or Kyle Rayner with Ion, I guess) meets with resounding failure:

Date: 2014-05-18 04:40 pm (UTC)Rankor has always been a wierd red lantern since unlike the rest he didn't have to be dumped in the blood lake to become intelligent he never lost his mind to start with. So that probably has something to do with the cat getting smarter.
Editing this in: Before that his thoughts were expressed as caption boxes implying the ring was translating his feelings.

Date: 2014-05-18 06:00 pm (UTC)still, I kinda like his "do what I wanna do, smack who I wanna smack and just get all secrets and stuff out in the open so it won't bite me in the behind later"
modus operandi that he got going here.
Wait...

Date: 2014-05-19 08:27 pm (UTC)Atrocitus's people were victims of a genocide perpetrated by the Manhunters.
Dex-Starr's human was murdered in a random breakin.
Skallox was betrayed and murdered by his boss. (He was a criminal, but still.)
Ratchet is the brain dude, so...
Rankorr's grandfather was killed in a mugging, then his brother beaten to death by the cops when he tried to track the muggers down for revenge. (That was a fun use of a red (heh) herring - we're led to believe the brother will be the Red, but Rankorr just kept his rage better hidden until the ring showed up.)
And Bleez was betrayed to the Sinestros by a bitter jilted suitor, and as a result her family was killed, and she was mutilated and (it's implied) raped.
(... Put next to the others, like that, Dex-Starr and Skallox seem fairly petty in comparison, but they're still pretty good reasons.)
