More Trekker subtext!

A little over a month ago, I posted a page from Ron Randall's Trekker on the growing subtext between Mercy and her neighbor and best friend Molly.  I mentioned that the subtext seemed to be rapidly becoming text.  Well, as the latest installment shows, that does not seem to have been a one-off.  Just to give the background, although it's pretty clear from the captions, in the middle of a difficult, dangerous case involving tracking down combat cyborgs, Mercy makes time to keep a dinner engagement with Molly:

You can't say you weren't warned this time. But I'm glad you've decided to read through the whole thing. It's definitely worth it.

Yeah, this doesn't really count as subtext at all, does it?

Not so much. It kind of seems more as though Randall has decided, with the relaunch of the series, to take the subtext that existed between Mercy and Molly back in the original run of the series in the eighties and make it text, and this is just a move toward that.
