AVENGERS #30 is an ORIGINAL SIN crossover. In issue 29 Captain America remembered his mindwipe and that Tony Stark and the Illuminati were going to build a "world destroying" weapon to save Earth and all of Reality. Tony and a bunch of armors fought Cap and a group of Avengers. And then the Time Gem appeared and popped them all 48 years into the future, because Why Not?

Tony's extra armor immediately realize they are 48 years in the future. Tony says "Okay, maybe I should have told you all about the World Incursion but what we do works because our Earth is still here." Well, no Sentinels or big Dr. Doom statue where the Statue of Liberty should be.

Then, future Avengers show up saying "Illegal Time Travel!" Similar to X-MEN: BATTLE OF THE ATOM. Also, they were expected to show up later.

Avengers #30 - Page 11

A future Hawkeye that isn't blind? Isn't that against the "possible alternate future" rules of the Marvel Universe? A future Hawkeye has to be blind?

Future!Clint outdraws Present!Clint.

Avengers #30 - Page 13

Future!Clint says each jump into the future will be longer than the last one. And that it won't be their enemies they will have to worry about.

And then he attacks Tony.

It's not quite "I HATE YOU! I'VE ALWAYS HATED YOU!" as most of these hero vs. hero fights go. But close.

And then the Time Gem shows up and transports our team 422 years into the future.

Hope this doesn't get as repetitive as the alternate world looking glass stuff in New Avengers.

Hmm.... okay. So do we know "the thing? " and does this mean we find out Budapest?

Also, why does Tony ALWAYS have to be a dick?

You ask that latter question, and in my head I see Robert Downey Jr. as Tony give a quick shrug and answer, "it saves time."

Well, last time being a huge dick truly fell apart on him, he got his memory of it wiped.

So Clint says he doesn't have it in him to use the device but Tony listens and uses it?

So I haven't even payed remote attention to this event. What exactly is the central thesis? I thought it was: someone killed the watcher and for some reason stole his eyes (because this is comics and his eyes have powers, I guess).

Now I see Bucky cutting Nick Fury's head off, which seemed redonkulous...and now I see time travelling shenanigans here. Which, you know...haven't we had enough of time travel and the Infinity gems for a while, really?

Also, still not a fan of Lenil Francis Yu's chicken scratch art. I not a fan of his composition, either, but I guess he remains super popular, since they keep throwing him on these events and brag about it.

The main event book by Aaron is actually a relatively self-contained murder mystery investigation. It's about several teams of heroes investigating different leads as to who murdered the Watcher.

But one consequence of the murder is that all of the secrets Uatu observed is now out in the open, which is where the tie-in books come in. They're all going to be completely separate and self-contained stories about learning a dark secret that was being kept from them. They're just going to share the same inciting incident, which is that the secret got revealed because of the Original Sin murder mystery.

So this Avengers story isn't actually tied to Original Sin in a significant manner. It's just that the Illuminati's exposed and Cap knows Tony mind-wiped him because of Uatu, but other than that it's the same ongoing story Hickman's been telling.

Shall we start taking bets on who gets outed as a secret booger-eater? (I'm going to cover the board and say "everyone.")

So Iron-man found out he was adopted and Captain America found out about the illuminati. Any other characters that have learned something?

I was going to say, "Yay! Thor Girl!" but you're right. Yu does not seem interested in actual clothing.
