Miles accidentally zaps Peter. Peter tells him to remember that he asked nice a hundred times and knocks Miles out. When Miles comes to, his webshooters are gone.
Best part is Ganke's full reaction to the reveal of Jessica's origin, which is basically, "Well, I'm comfortable enough to say that Peter Parker had a really nice butt, then." :D
I decided to get onboard the book with this latest relaunch, since I've heard good things, but try as I might the pacing still kills me. The story is interesting, the characters are likable, the dialogue is fun, it's all very well constructed, but reading it still just leaves me thinking that I'd chew off my own foot if it'd speed up the damn story.
The plot's interesting at least, though how many stories has it been now that have centered on Peter Parker's legacy? Having a black-Hispanic kid as the "real" Spider-Man is great, but it doesn't exactly mean as much if everyone is constantly talking about the old guy. I'd like to see Miles Morales just get to be Spider-Man, instead of Spider-Man No. 2, in his own book for once.
I kind of feel the same way. I want to like Miles but at this point 90% of his character is just reacting to everything around him. I'm on the fence if I want to continue the series or not...
For a writer known for snappy dialogue, Bendis can have a pacing problem. Of course, this is the guy who took AMAZING FANTASY #15 and spread it out over 4 issues for ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN. I will give him credit for having Peter jump immediately to crime fighting instead of hemming and hawing as he did in AMAZING FANTASY #16-18 and the current LEARNING TO CRAWL series.
That's probably why they're doing that. Like when Marvel wanted readers to accept Ben as the 'real' Spider-Man they turned Peter into a raving lunatic who backhanded his pregnant wife.
or you know... being dead and resurrected might have been a bit traumatic. he makes an excellent point. there have been no resurrections in the UVerse... the closest thing IS Cap....
I can think of reasonable explanations on why a 'good' Peter (real thing or clone) would want or need his old web shooters back. Perhaps he's in a situation where he doesn't have the funds to get the parts and chemicals he needs to make new ones. Or perhaps he think Miles is too young to be risking his life and wants to discourage him without out and out telling him to quit, because that has never worked on any hero worth their salt.
But thoe are a bit of a stretch, so I'm definitly leaning towards this Peter not being a good guy.
His current/final web shooters were a gift from Tony Stark in literally the last issue before DOSM. Peter probably could rebuild them, but he couldn't do any better than Iron Man's work.
For those of you who haven't read the first issue, two Spidermen (can't remember if one of them was a girl or not) were seen robbing a tech containing van. If we all remember the run right before the Death of Peter Parker, we remember that there are Chameleon twins still in this universe. This is (in my opinion) the best possibility, Another one is that these are brain washed clones and we could possible be dealing with an Ult Jackal. Either way, it's shaping up to be interesting, can't wait for this issue to arrive in the mail!
The Ultimate clones were created by Doc Ock, not Jackal. And clone is the more likely scenario since the Scorpion clone is the only surviving Spider-Man clone besides Ultimate Spider-Woman.
hmmm it could be Peter... resurrection is a new thing in the Marvel U. maybe he's not taking it well... or it's a clone, or any number of things... still, his attitude isn't the best thing to judge him on, at least not yet...
