Guess who's back?

"Alex's return seemed like the perfect complication to throw at Nico. Alex was Nico's rock in the early days with the Runaways. He was her boyfriend and their leader. Alex was the one with all the answers. When he betrayed them and sided with his parents, it broke Nico's heart but she never stopped caring about him. She even tried bringing him back from the dead.
Now Nico is struggling with another "which side to take" decision. Alex is both the best and worst thing that could possibly happen to her in this moment. So, you know, of course we wanted to go there."

I miss Vaughan's Runaways.

Date: 2014-06-07 09:39 pm (UTC)Hell, if there was a book that was all resurrection stories, I would totally buy it. One issue would be about the bus explosion kids navigating their way out of various afterlives. Another would be about the Kangaroo wrestling Death to come back or Nomad slipping between dimensions.

Date: 2014-06-08 09:33 am (UTC)Besides if any book should cover Alex's return, it should be a Runaways book, not this godawful waste of paper.

Date: 2014-06-10 03:48 am (UTC)That said, the lettered version of this actually does show . . . a better construction of a story than the last issue,. Not good, but much better (then again, the last issue was marred by extreme stupidity, tell-don't-show storytelling and attempting to build sympathy with characters that I couldn't care less about thanks to her Zombie Mom).
This is also the second extremely cheap resurrection pulled by Hopeless in this series which only serves to diminish the impact of the deaths he caused even further. Especially since the first one was done in error.
