"Marvel has pretty much the best artists in the business, so there’s just no demand for me to try anything. I’m sure at some point down the line if there’s a vanity project that I really, really want to do, I think I could weasel my way into that, but then you have to ask yourself, is that really smart? Is it smart to pour that kind of time and effort and devotion to a book at Marvel and you don’t own any of it?" - Jonathan Hickman

If the Not!JSA's reaction to the Illuminati isn't "WTF IS WRONG WITH YOU?" I will be deeply saddened.

If the Not!JSA lose their world to the 616 anti-heroes I will be deeply saddened.

Sofar the 616 anti-heroes have dealt with situations where the other worlds were lost any way. I wonder how they will deal with a world that features better heroes and perhaps therefore has a better world.

I know that it wasn't an exactly subtle JLA replica to begin with, but naming the Batman replica Wayne just killed me.

I realize that opinions vary largely on Hickman's Avengers run, but based on the scans I've read here, I would be really interested in seeing Hickman's take on JLA. I just feel that he might be able to bring in the level of scope that I've felt missing from the book for a long while now.

So is the lesson I'm supposed to take away from this is that DC heroes are noble and will fight to the bitter end while Marvel heroes will probably fuck everything up and bicker with each other? They look awfully villainous on that last page as they prepare to fight the heroes who just saved the day from insurmountable odds (though not as insurmountable as Threat X or Threat Y)

Maybe it's a critique of the DCnu.

I think the Silver Age characterization of DC characters being all-powerful, noble inspirations and Marvel characters being more grounded, tragic fuck-ups is still deeply embedded in people when talking about the differences between the two universes, even though DC's modern age has very much muddled that line.

In the nuDC, Batman is less of a jerk and doesn't openly loath all other superheroes.. Perhaps this carries over for this guy.

Superheroes know the important of secrets. It is why they wear masks. But many would see the Illuminati as too much, and cutting off other resources.

I dunno... There's plenty of times he seems like a jerky-jerk hater to me, especially during the crossover between World's Finest, and Superman/Batman.

There were plenty of times where pre-Flashpoint Batman DIDN'T come across as a hater.

It all depends on how much of a Batman worshiper the writer is I guess.

When written in the main Batman books, he's less of a jerk. When he's co- or guest starring the writers revert to type.

Looking over my shoulder, my wife asked, "Why is Namor auditioning for the part of Puck in some gay porn?"

She's consoling herself with Atomic Robo trades.

Yeah -- the art is not working for me. That Namor is a travesty.

It doesn't take much to predict the cringeworthy nature of the next issue, does it?

I do have to ask though, what that quote has to do with anything here except to serve as inflamatory?

I'm calling it: Speedster-lady sacrifices herself to save her world. Then her sidekick takes on her mantle and eventually grows into the role. Then somehow she comes back by even though fans never asked for it, and irreversibly screws up her universe by trying to alter history.
