Lord Zedd still wins the ugly stakes for me, what with that whole "flayed human being with exposed brain and multiple piercings straight into major muscle groups" look.

Ah, Jason the original Red Ranger was prime beefcake and very pretty to look at, but Billy the Blue Ranger won me over with general geeky adorableness (and some very nice gymnast moves)

I remember when I was watching the show for the first time in years after it came on dvd and I got to the episode where Rita created evil copies of their civillian ids.

It was the first episode where they dressed Billy in a shirt that wasn't two or three sizes too big. Since the evil doubles like all evil doubles amped up the sex appeal. Jason had the top few buttons on his shirt opened evil jason only had the bottom button. Billy was wearing over sized over alls over a sleevless shirt, evil billy had the straps and bib off just showing off the muscle shirt and the rest were dressed similar.

And I have completely lost my train of thought where I was going with this.

Still, though, when I lost my Red Ranger at the beach, I swapped him for my Zedd figure and made some stupid play time storyline about how he was the "new and improved" Red Ranger.

It was so hard to pretend, man. It was so hard.

Well, this one was written to take place after a very specific episode ("White Light," where Tommy becomes the White Ranger and Rita briefly returns), so it makes sense they'd use the Zords from that point in time.

They lost the Dino Megazord very early in season 2, so you really have to do a Lord Zedd story with the Thunder or Ninja Zords.

But the company that put this out is putting out Rangers comics all over the time stream, so there are some with the Dino Zords.

I liked them as a kid but as the franchise went on the original Mighty Morphin team just kept sliding down the list of teams. So I'm just feeling rather cold to the Mighty Morphin nostalgia Saban's been trying to generate.

Their recent efforts with the genre; MMPR Revisited, Samurai/Super Samurai, Megaforce and SuperMegaforce (Which makes a complete hash of one of the most fun Sentai series in years) haven't helped either.

Especially as they came on the heels of Disney's last, more or less throwaway, season RPM, perhaps THE best PR series of them all (IMHO at least).

I've only seen one episode of Super Megaforce (the first PR episode I've seen since season 2) and didn't think it was that terrible - not a patch on Gokaiger (my love of which was the only reason I watched that episode), but not really any worse than MMPR was, IMO...save for the more-obvious-than-I-remember redubbing on the fight scene. Is the season as a whole really that bad?

It suffers from acting that is only marginally less bad than Samurai's cast (though not by much) and the Red Ranger is the most wooden they've had in... well, pretty much ever (and that includes Jayden in Samurai who I thought would hold the crown for a while longer).

The fact they insist on using the Goseiger outfits before switching to the Gokaiger ones is particularly annoying, and they have no real explanation of the pirate theme at all, when it was such a fun plot point in Gokaiger.

MMPR was cheesy, but heartfelt cheesiness, SuperMegaforce is just... empty.

Well, dang...the explanation for that was what I was most interested in.

Likewise.. and I wouldn't even have minded a handover episode but no, it's Goseiger outfits at the start of EVERY fight, then Gokaiger, then whatever suits they are "honouring", which in some cases includes Sentai teams predating MMPR, which have to be explained as "Ranger teams that have never been seen on Earth", which I suppose is a step in the right direction.

I'm wondering how they're going to hangle Toqger's colour shifting gimmick.

I'm betting they'll skip ToQger, just because the train theme. Or at most give it the same treatment as Dairanger and Go-Buster and incorporate a few random aspects.

It was the capitalised "Free" bit that confused me, these days I associate that with the completely-heterosexual-no-gay-subtext-at-all-nosiree-bob-despite-more-frolicking-in-swimming-trunks-than-a-david-decoteau-movie swimming anime.

And Tommy clearly used his lucrative racing driver career to fund his high speed doctorate in paleontology AND his teaching qualifications. (koff-koff-Dino-Thunder-koff-koff)

I like to think that was bought out from under him by Skull using the money he made by actually getting a job and not larking around in the Lost Galaxy like Bulk did. He then used it to start a chain of resorts and juice bars (all called "Ernie's" as a tribute to an old acquaintance) and the Jungle Karma Pizza chain to the point he was as wealthy as we saw him at the end of Super Samurai.

Like instead of having a clip show of the season's previous episodes (especially the first 9 episode they repair the HELL out of before the new stuff), they would find a time capsule that has news footage of the mighty Morphin, if not the total Zordon, era of Power Rangers.

It's amazing how much this comic has all that silly 90s kid comic junk in it. The craziness, the awkward dialogue that explains more than the art itself, broken logic, the off pacing, the shoed in humor, and the somewhat odd place and method to end the story... and I still love it all.

Ahhh the over the top action and the cheese, even getting away with alittle bit more than they did I the tv show... I think this is going to be a fun series.
