This creates a really interesting idea where it casts Fury not as this Solid Snake, uber badass, but as an aging, behind the scenes general. I like this idea because it creates a bunch of ideas like: 1. When was the cut off point? 2. When did he decide this plan? 3. How deep does this go?.
He's no longer my choice for killer. I think this is just the next big secret of the series. This also leads into a really interesting point: Did all of the LMD KNOW they were LMD? Were there some who were left to think they were the real Fury?
I'm at a loss as to the killer now. With the current Nova revelation, his dad is now a viable suspect.
To be fair, Solid Snake did age, and not only at a normal rate, but acceleratedly… (though he's definitely more warrior than master manipulator (though the original Naked Snake could arguably fulfill both roles))
Wouldn't whoever killed Uatu have to be cosmically powerful? My impression has always been that they're at least the equal of pantheon-heading skyfather gods like Odin and Zeus, and a heck of a lot harder to sneak up on.
I'm not the only one who noticed the Solid Snake/Big Boss-Nick Fury similarities. On that note... if they ever bring Classic Fury into an animated series or game, they need to get David Hayter to voice him.
She probably didn't use enough force to cut through metal: if it had been an actual skull, she would have gone right through and maybe got her sword stuck in something.
O, phew! I thought Nick Fury had gone bad. This is a huge relief. But Nick Fury turning out to be an old man all along in every story appearance I’ve read since the 00’s makes me sad. I get the impression they’re going ahead with the next phase of his retirement.
Okay, I'll not get off track. The story hasn't even continued yet. I'll see where this leads. If this is a next secret Avengers team, I'll be excited.
I don't think explaining it as a problem, since Nick probably wouldn't let anyone else touch his LMDs during the construction process. I like to imagine that while most of the process is automated by now, Nick still insists on lovingly building every LMD dong by hand.
These are LMDs that can fool Wolverine's senses. Which is something that just happens.
Elsewhere in the issue, Logan comments "I never liked Bucky." Given Bucky was the one that killed Daken's mother (as the Winter Soldier, which doesn't count), I can see why.
So guess that serum never worked at all...or is Nick's age really catched up with him when it wore off?
Anyway, I really doubt if Nick was dead... well... "DEAD DEAD" in comics. At this point, I would doubt anyone would believe anyone who dies in a crisis would be dead anymore, not after with Captain America, who is all well despite getting shot at point blank with a gun...
Frank, I know you have an image to maintain as grimdark serious badass, but you might want to step off because the raccoon is going to fuck your shit up if you keep insulting him...
Bucky, Gamora, Black Canary (yes I figured out that's actually Emma Frost), Dr Strange, Ant-Man (???), Moon Knight, T'challa, and...one of The Residents?
Yeah, that looks like the Scott Lang Ant-Man, still rocking his Future Foundation duds. The last one is the All-New Orb, who is one of Jason Aaron's go to joke villains if I understand correctly.
So, being a douche towards anyone else with "low key" tech is one of Rockets' defining traits nowadays? Considering how often he and the rest of the guardians has been absurdly outgunned (against the likes of Ultron and the Phalanx, The Shi'ar Honor guard, The Inhumans etc.) I'd have hoped he'd reserve judgement towards any of the "primitives" until he'd at least seen them in action.
Also, while I understand that Marvel wants to market Rocket as the new ultimate badass, having him getting into a pissing contest with Punisher about who has the biggest gun feels like a waste of a golden opportunity to do something crazy and fun with the character. Put him on perimeter watch and have him run into the likes of Hercules, Deadpool or Squirrel Girl instead. ;)

Date: 2014-06-19 12:06 am (UTC)LMDs are extremely convincing. Like, to the point where they can and have fooled everyone.
Fully functional in every way.
This means that someone out there has to design and build LMD penises.
Imagine explaining that job.
Oky, so maybe it's all automated these days. But still.
