Looks to me like the rest of the League was already paralyzed with fear; only WW sees this as a fun challenge.

Who wouldn't want to tenderize Clark?

bat's is just jealous. he usually does the tenderizing when it comes to clark... funny thing is, they both come out a bit more tender (i bet they take turns being the small spoon lol:)

I dunno, it looks to me that Diana is the most likable one there.

I like that take, I can totally see her as overly-eager to fight baddies.

Literally, top of my reading page: "I don't think she's keen on the current take on Wonder Woman." Sounds up my alley, yes?

I was expecting something more...satirically specific than, "Wonder Woman is a weirdo who punches her friends," honestly. This was just weird.

Where does this even come from?

This. I know the typical reaction to Azzarello's run appears to be 'ehrmagerd, Diana isn't compassionate and she just beats the shit out of people', which is entirely inaccurate, although I won't deny that there are some flaws in the run. If this is meant to be based on Azzarello's take, it's pretty ignorant and lacking.

This... doesn't come off as that though. I read it more as Wonder Woman being obnoxiously boisterous.

But when the thread starter suggests this is a response to Azzarello's run, then I'm inclined to read it as such. Either way - I know this isn't an official take on Wonder Woman, but it's still disappointing given the previous comics were goofy, but largely still in character, especially Bruce and Ollie.

I'm more baffled by the implication that it's a response to Azzarello than anything else- this doesn't look like either that or the criticisms of it.

Could be a reaction to her appearances OUTSIDE her own book, where she's primarily been a one-dimensional warrior.

It may be a *reaction* to but definitely isn't based on that version.

she's actually very compassionate. She's compassionate towards people you would not even THINK deserved compassion. Hades, Ares, Hera, ect. there are things i don't like about Azzarello's run... diana herself isn't necissarily one of them.

Yeah, I was definitely a little bit 'oh' about the changes to the Amazons themselves. I can understand where Azzarello is coming from in making them a little less flawless than they actually were, but then as much as I disliked Simone's run, a few years back, she at least did a good job of establishing 'bad' Amazon characters that weren't the tribe Artemis came from.

But no book is perfect, I suppose - it's just a shame one of the flaws is relatively large one that gets dropped early on.

Back in 2009, many of us on this board talked about how Mark Waid turned Wonder Woman into Fighty McFighterton in KINGDOM COME, and how that continued on for a while.

hmmm but in Kingdom come, it kinda made sense for her character. having disappeared from man's world the way that other heroes had. SHe became more hardened, as did many of the other heroes. i kinda liked the overall characterizatios in kingdom come (was almost gonna type in "hearts") though parts might have been carried too far.

I should reiterate, it worked for Kingdom Come. It shouldn't really have carried over

I wonder why it carried over? What it because KINGDOM COME was so popular? DARK KNIGHT RETURNS carried over and turned Batman into a jerk (to other superheroes) alarmingly often.

Post-KC Diana talks a good game about peace, but is *always* "spoiling for a rumble" (as the British say).
