I happy that MC2 Mayday Parker is back but Slott is writing her and well this is a lead in to Spiderverse. Here are the things I'm worry about.

1. Slott not writing her well
2. Worse, Killing her or her family just to build up the big bad up. Slott already use a alternative Spider-man as a sacrificial lamb to hyped up Morlun which is the 1602 version who got brutally killed. I could imagine Morlun would target May, her father Peter and even her little brother Benji.

Oh god, Slot does thrive on riling up fans and trolling them. like he did when he killed Kingsley Hobgoblin only to turn out to be a standin or the whole MJ rape thing.

What you think?

I don't think Slott would kill her off.

To be fair, as much as I loathe Slott's Spider-Man writing, the entire gag with Hobgoblin is that he's basically the ultimate fucking troll character. They've been doing the 'oh, it was actually x but no wait really he's y' thing with the Hobgoblin since forever. So that one can't really be held against him.

Mayday is fine. Maybe MC2 Pete might be killed, but May is fine. Arana on the other hand. Um... there have been hints fate won't be kind for her at all during this event.

Also the Hobgoblin was Slott's trolling magnum opus. He enjoyed twisting the knife and enjoyed to tease me about it when I interviewed him before later that year he brought Kingsley back. Kingsley has always been the magnificent bastard of Spidey villains and the easiest to say, "IT WAS A DUPE!" Because that's his thing. He's better at smoke & mirrors than Mysterio.

I think she'll get to survive, she works as a reminder to Peter Parker of the happy life that he could one day achieve, so that'll probably be her role in the story, though I wouldn't rule out her dying in the final confrontation. As for being written well.... It's Dan Slott, so make of that what you will.

I would like to go on record in saying that I really don't agree with the premise of this event, the everyman premise of Spider-Man doesn't allow for him to be cast as some sort of cosmically significant hero who recurs across every reality. The longer Slott writes the character the more I feel that he and I have fundamentally different understandings of what is important to the character.

Are they actually saying he exists in every reality, or is it just that he exists in a bunch of them? Because if it's the latter, that doesn't mean he's cosmically significant. It's just the way probability works when you're dealing with an infinite multiverse, which by its very nature means there's an infinite number of them.

The latter I would think, from What-If's alone there must be a bunch of universe that never got Spider-Men. Still though, for me the concept of Spidey teaming up with a bunch of alternate reality counterparts doesn't click.

We know he's important because we're the audience, but I don't think the story should treat him as anything but an ordinary guy thrust into extraordinary circumstances by chance, and infinite universes or not, having a bunch of the other version show up undermines that.

If I don't read it, she'll be okay.

Yes. My hatred of Slott's work is at the point where I'm just ignoring it & telling myself Peter's currently Marvel's equivalent of post Rebirth Wally, where he's around but nothing major is happening in his life & he's just being happy with MJ.

I remember back when Slott was fairly well liked around here- back when he was doing She-Hulk and similar.

How things have changed.

Mayday should be one of the most experienced Spider-people at this point, right?

Behind 616 but above most others.

In line with S_D policy, you need to post a scan in this image, not a link to an image, but an actual scan.

Thanks for changing it to an image, though I should point out that it is generally considered not good manners to hotlink images directly from another site.

I've wondered if a Spider-Girl animated series would work, and who would have "dibs" on producing it, Disney or Sony. Peter Parker would (obviously) be a main character, but he wouldn't be Spider-Man.

One "hook" about a Spider-Girl cartoon is that it wouldn't be really in the future. Tom DeFalco's dialog was peppered with "modern" references and slang, from J.Lo's Grammy dress to watching teen dramas on the CW.

I think Disney get automatic dibs on the animated stuff, now. Sony only get whatever they make from the movies - that's why Spectacular Spidey ended and got replaced with Ultimate, and given Mayday is a derivative character, she'd fall under that umbrella.

Is that Ms. Marvel in the corner panel with Spidey?

Yep!

Their team-up actually begins in the prior issue, which would make ASM #7 the first time that Ms. Marvel is written by someone besides G. Willow Wilson (not counting that one-panel gag cameo in Original Sins about Lockjaw... although she's actually getting a 'team-up' with Lockjaw in Ms. Marvel #8, and supposed to be meeting Medusa in #9).

Cool! I wonder how the other writers are going to interpret her, especially given that she's a fairly new character.
