He retracted (or something like that) his Power Cosmic within himself to sneak aboard the Empericon since they would otherwise have been able to sense him coming.

Also, Silver Surfer can do anything.

I don't know where it originated, but I remember first seeing it in an issue of Thor (I think- that or JiM) where Fandral has the unhappy task of trying to convince the surfer to put on pants. I've got a scan of it somewhere, but it was a small part of a two page spread so it doesn't travel really well. The money bit was:

"Dammit, Surfer-"

"Damn yourself, handsome God of Shame, what have I to hide from the eyes of man?"

And that's only your opinion that this work is not. Some people, like myself, think this is good. That sort of response does not invite conversation and inadvertently insults others. In the future, please be more mindful of how you express your views.

I don't think quality has anything to do with it. I'm not really a fan of Slott's Spider-Man run, but I can easily see the elements of this story that are similar to those kind of stories (At least Hitchhiker's and Doctor Who... never seen Red Dwarf, so I can't say if it fits the tone of that one or not). Whether it's good or bad in terms of quality doesn't really matter if you can still draw comparisons between the two, and it's obvious that Slott was aiming for something in a similar vein to those stories while he was writing this.

And for the record, this might sound kind of hypocritical from the guy who called Dan Slott a 'second-rate writer' a while back, but I'm liking this a whole lot better than anything I've seen in his Spider-Man run.

This. Here's hoping it doesn't turn into (mostly) botched job like Moffatt's tenure on Dr Who, where the lead is often reduced to a selfish, dangerous idiot, and the women are either plot devices or the butt of jokes.
