A little more from Ms Marvel #6
Jul. 20th, 2014 04:41 pmI posted a few panels from Ms Marvel #6 for the Wolverine intro, and that leaves me with just enough "space" to post a little more.
Kamala's father has been concerned about her recent behaviour, her sneaking out, her secretiveness etc, and has asked Sheikh Abdullah down at the local mosque to have a little chart with her. We've briefly met Sheikh Abdullah before and know that he views Kamala as one of those challenging students that all teachers have to deal with from time to time.
Kamala is convinced he hates her, and so is not looking forward to the "little chat", but Aamir asks her to...

"... the master will appear"
I love that (Like most of the priests and ministers I've known in real life) he is shown as being worldly-wise enough to appreciate that there are some things that can't and/or won't change, at best you can guide them, and pray it all works out.
and we also meet her first proper supervillain, the guy who is behind a series of attacks by cybernetic alligators... Whilst tracking them down a sewer, Kamala finds a sort of lair...

Her first nemesis is a cockatiel hybrid clone of Thomas Edison.... of COURSE it is.... (Hey, at least it's not another ruddy Tesla reference!)
I LOVE comics!

Date: 2014-07-22 04:08 am (UTC)I understand that people are tired of the Edison = figurative Hitler. But on the other hand, Edison is going to forever be known as the father of electricity. when Tesla did more.

And that first scene is so lovely... if I didn't already love this comic, that would have sealed the deal. It's so nice to see common sense, and respect in such a situation. Very well handled.

Date: 2014-07-21 03:21 pm (UTC)agreed. Yeah there are a lot of bad preachers out there... but there are A LOT of good ones out there too that are a lot more in keeping with my image of Christ and other Religious founders.
