But seriously, for my probably last Bat-Day post, here's one of, if not the, saddest Batman scene from No Man's Land ('Tec #275):
Batman and Nightwing are resting from a not-yet-over night of keeping the peace in No Man's Land. He stares out into the city and does this:

There are a lot of things to love about this page, but I especially love how Batman doesn't show his true despair face in that last panel. There's a kind of solemn dignity to it, or whatever you call it.
Then again, it's a man in a pointy-eared cowl talking to a handsome-acrobat-turned-ninja-detective, so the solemnity really depends on the reader at this point.
Food for Thought: It's been months since I posted the question, but now I finally know where Alfred was the night the Waynes were killed.
