Still somehow a happy title, but not everything's bouncy heroes and sunshine.

Meanwhile, the rest of the "team" are attacked by a mysterious hooded figure... who happens to be the anthropomorphic version of grumpy cat.

I sadly don't have enough background on the rest to know what's up (namely Namorita/not-Namorita/whoever she is) so can anyone lend insight?

Arceley is the best. The very, very best.

I'm not a fan of what I've seen of her here. She reminds me of a kender, except instead of "innocently" stealing people's stuff, she's "innocently" violating the privacy of other people's minds.

Yeahhh....same here.

i loved Aracely in Scarlet Spidey but that bit with speedball made her seem annoying. Shes like that one friend of yours that rubs people the wrong way initially but then everyone warms up to them later on.

Even if this is true, that doesn't excuse the lack of respect she shows for the secrets she learns.

Or to put it another way: even if you have x-ray vision you can't turn off, that doesn't mean you should ask someone in public about their pink polka-dotted underwear.

One of my best friends has had that problem, and has had to learn (at some cost) to not do it. I've known other people like that, as well.

The question is though, if you were born with X-Ray vision, it would take a long time to come to terms with the concepts of surfaces, opacity and realising that other people don't know what colour underwear other people are wearing.

Aracely may be in the same situation with mind reading, because she can see everything (or a lot of it), she doesn't know what other people do, or don't, already know or would find inappropriate.

There's a fatal flaw with your argument: an empath like Hummingbird /does/ know when someone finds something inappropriate, /because that's what an empath is/. Knowing people don't like her reading their minds is literally a superpower for her.

Her problem of unintentionally reading people's minds actually appeals to me. It reminds me of what people on the autistic spectrum go through; since we're not socialized like other people, we can't perceive the masks they put up over their genuine selves. So a lot of the things we say tend to cut through that chaff of how people want to be seen, and address what's really there. It's not a conscious act by any means, though! Not unless we're aware of this trait.

Hey, now. Nobody is as awful as a kender (except another kender).

Oh Kaine. I wish you and your adorable brand of grumpiness would be teamed up with Peter and his wit more often. You know, provided you don't end up killing him out of frustration.

Oh god, Kaine's going to be in Spider-Verse, isn't he?

I want him to be stuck with a group of happy, witty quipping Spiders. Just to see him go nuts from all the happy Peters (and assorted others) around him.

Kaine's actually gonna be in a Scarlet Spiders mini with Ultimate Jessica Drew (now Black Widow) and an alternate Spidey era Ben Reilly. So there should be a healthy amount of quipping as well as some exploration of Kaine's emotional baggage in particular.

It makes sense that he's still in Robbie, somewhere.

It doesn't make sense that THAT'S the Robbie Psychic!Misfit sees.

I think its nice bit of character continuity that even after all of this time and all of this recovery, Robbie still carries that guilt and because of that will ALWAYS see himself as Penance. He probably doesn't want anyone to know he still carries so much guilt because he doesn't want their pity or "help"

It does if he's lining his Speedball costume with spikes on the inside in order to generate his power.

Mentioning Penance makes him remember his Penance period and that, I should imagine, is the sort of thought and mental-self image that lingers, which is why he tries to avoid it by being his more cheery happy-go=lucky outward seld.

Assuming this is happening in/around Wundagore, that burning page is probably a page from the big book o' eeeeevil magic known as the Darkhold, which was created by the demonic entity known as Cthon (who is usually depicted as looking a whole lot like that creepy fella behind her while she's reading the page).

So yeah, !Namorita probably has a bit o' pure evil lodged in her soul for the time being thanks to reading one of those pages. Generally reading anything from the Darkhold is bad, bad news for the person doing it.

Wundagore is an important spot in the Marvel Universe. It's where Philip Masters got his Puppet Master clay.

And was near the spot where Pietro and Wanda were born, hence Chthon possessing Wanda in the past.

you know. didn;t like Penance when it became a thing... but since it was, i like that there are writers since then that are handling it really well. since it IS something that did happen, i like that he has been dealing with it in his own way. he is adjusting. he is better... but that kind of thing leaves it's scars. as some one who used to/is a cutter i can relate.

I wonder what Hummingbird would see when she looks at Spider-Man.

"What's with the Harry Potter glasses and Chandler Bing sweater vest?"

I think Squirrel Girl was turned off of Speedball when he was in his Penance phase.

Him, and P-Cat the Penitent Puss.
