Callisto: Tentacle-a-rama

Once upon a time, Storm entered an underground mutant fighting arena. While there, she encountered an old...let's call her a friend. Callisto. Now, Callisto had got some...let's call them upgrades by the host of the establishment, Masque.

Storm and Callisto ended up getting along pretty well, considering their somewhat stabby history.
Callisto ended up keeping them for a while. She had them in that short lived non-British Excalibur book.

She lost them during House of M, which is kinda weird seeing as they weren't really a mutant thing so much as a thing caused by a mutant, but hey.
Sidenote, this isn't Masque's first time tentacling someone up. His first victim? A certain Miss Jean Grey. Who was also weirdly cool with the whole thing.

She's probably had bits of that amended since then (The mid/late 1980's) but that's what I've got.

Date: 2014-09-25 08:33 pm (UTC)Storm was captured and also mutated by Masque a few times as a form of torture and at the end they over threw masque and all the ones who wanted the alterations removed got them done. Callisto liked her new tentacles and kept them. The Arena was then allowed to continue under Callisto's leadership as a haven for mutants and folks were now given the choice to fight or not since many of the mutants did get off on the fight club aspect but it was no longer mandatory.

Date: 2014-09-25 06:15 pm (UTC)I mean with Callisto I get her not caring: She was the leader of the Morlocks, so she's used to being around weird people, and the tentacles are pretty useful (And kinky), plus I presume at the time we see her in the above scans she's had them a while.
But Jean? She just got them and she's sitting around like its no big deal (Well, she may be in shock, she's got this weird dead eyed stare going on), and she's busy playing around with them.
I mean come on, if I woke up and my hands had been replaced by masses of tentacles, I'd at least have a a half hour or so of "Holy fuck what happened to me I'm a monster" before I realized "Hey, tentacles are pretty cool."

Date: 2014-09-26 12:20 am (UTC)It's not just you. Masque seems to be the same sort of creepy bastard Proteus is, and even if they didn't want to sell his creepiness the same way, it's the elephant in the room and just ignoring it doesn't work too well.
