"Mark Millar is teasing a 10-issue series that has some fans guessing could be his first DC Comics work since 2003’s Superman: Red Son.

Posting a page of artwork this morning on his message board, the writer asked members to guess the artist, the project and which “well-known superheroes” are shown, promising, “All will be revealed next week.” “You will be SURPRISED,” he added.

Clearly enjoying the game, Millar was quick to offer four clues:

1/ These are huge superheroes.

2/ I have written TWO of these characters before.

3/ It relates to a very major series (or is that special project?) I have written in my past.

4/ The last time I worked with this artist is the gift that keeps on giving.

Just as quickly, some of his fans seized upon DC icons Wonder Woman, Superman and Batman, which Millar did nothing to dismiss. That may be supported by the “JG” at the upper-left corner of the page and in the file name, which the writer confirmed stands for Justice … something. “But what else is there beside Leagues or Societies …?” he asked."

This looks very "Mad Men"-esque to me.

"Surrender, Superman."
"Surrender? Do you think this symbol on my chest means I'm Aquaman?!"
"...It's an S?"

I'm intrigued as to how this can go, as Mark Millar has actually won awards for his work on the Superman: the Animated Series tie-in comics (I think), although allegedly a good deal of Red Son was actually contributed by Grant Morrison, who collaborated with Millar early on in his comcis career (in his Authority run most notably), so we'll have to wait and see, I guess.

Mark Millar's Adventures of Superman run is one of my favorite runs on a title, and is greatly underrated. It also has one of the best Lex Luthor stories I have ever read.

Let's be honest, the ending of Red Son is so Morrison it can't possibly be anything BUT a Morrison idea. The idea of Superman actually being a time traveller from the far, far, far future and being a Luthor descendant is entirely unlike anything else in Millar's writing, and entirely like Morrison.

My guess... From the general style of the page this is a version of the League in a 1960s-a-la-Mad Men world. JG could be Justice Guild (which is catchy, but I'm not sure it fits the style I'm seeing in the art) or Justice Group (which is not so catchy, but it fits the sort of corporate thing, if it is, in fact, strongly inspired by Mad Men).

The Justice Guild from the Justice League animated series? Four men and one woman, and if this take place in the late 60s or early 70s-judging from the art, early 70s is a reasonable guess, they would have aged this much from their earlier appearance.

Granted, they died in the series. Twice, in fact. But there's always a way around that.

For a second I thought this post read "Is Frank Miller writing Superman again?" and almost had a panic attack

Don't say that. The day that happens is the day that I'm convinced that there is no good in this world.
