From Deadpool vs. Hawkeye 1, the context: it's Halloween and Wade's been wondering what to wear. He meets Kate Bishop for the first time, which leads to awkward hilarity.
The encapsulating moment for the character, for me, is the bit in "Cable vs. Deadpool" #1 when he's sitting around watching tv in his underwear and gets a call for Deadpool, then goes off-panel to get his mask so he can answer the phone. He *is* Deadpool; Wade is just the guy under the mask.
This mini has been highly enjoyable, and in the case of Hawkeye I've found it refreshing in light of the constant delays and darkening tone of the main series.
I particularly love the way it builds off of the current directions for these characters, like it wouldn't work the same with the Hawkeyes/Deadpool of 4-5 years ago. And they come together so well that this doesn't just feel like an artless mashup of two successful series.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Wade's appearance created from excessive scarring due to the interaction between his terminal cancer and mutant healing factor? If so, why are there big holes in his face that expose the musculature?
'Cause his heailing factor reacting with his cancer causes his appearance to change frequently, like his brain chemistry (hence his mood swings etc etc).
