Preview of Lemire and Nguyen's "Descender"

I make no secret of the fact I love Dustin Nguyen's work and Jeff Lemire has a good track record, and they are working together on a series which looks very promising, and has a preview up at Comics Alliance, where Nguyen's inkwash style is being pointed in a new direction; sci-Fi.



Our hero is Tim and his pet Bandit (named, I'm going to guess, after Jonny Quest's dog.)

I'm a sucker for robot boy stories in general (see Astro Boy icon), so I'm very interested in this. The art kinda reminds me of the manga "Pluto".

Ahh, Dustin Nguyen. One of those few artists whose work can go from adorable & whimsical to downright horrifying in a heartbeat.

I regret that he came in the wrong generation to work on Neil Gaiman's Sandman, because HOLY FUCK what wonders that might've created. Maybe Gaiman will return in another 5-10 years for another Sandman Annual Deluxe Special Prequel story, and he can contribute a couple bits of art to it...
