Between the panel of Steph and her mom hugging being drawn much more like they're doing the tango, and Selina looking much more like Silhouette from Watchmen, there's a whole lotta subtext goin' on.
This at least makes sense rather than Felicia grabbing the 'complete moron' ball and turning into something completely hideous just because the writers didn't want to generate a coherent story for putting her into that role.
And even though she's a crime boss, she's still Selina and her evolution of being a crime boss was much more natural than four issues, *BAM* Black Cat is a HUGE crime lord in New York. UGH... why can't Marvel just create a new female villain? I just don't understand the logic of the move.
"What DC did it? Well when we missed our chance when they turned Catwoman into a successful Noir-ish character when Brubaker and Cooke took over, so quick! Make Black Cat a crime boss too! That'll make her popular, right?"
It's been canon since the start in the New52, or it's at least confirmed to be canon now that Selina is of Falcone blood. So it still works better than Felicia's nonsense. Pre-New52, DC always had a sketchy approach to the Loeb/Sale stuff being in continuity too, and I always figured DC kind-of let it be because it was the most prominent and seemingly well-liked origin for Two Face, and tied to the actually-canon Year One.
Anyone have a feeling this is an attempt to retcon that nu52 Steph's mom was a horrible person and bring her personality closer to her pre-Flashpoint one?
I think it could have been the case all along that she maybe clued (excuse the pun) Arthur in to where Steph was before genuinely not believing that he'd actually tried to and would continue to try to kill their own daughter, and that she's probably been trying to get away from the jerk for a while; She did, after all, try to deter Steph from going around to her father's place right in the beginning of the series, suggesting that she didn't want Steph to get involved/know about his Cluemaster ID at all.
I'm not so sure it is, unless he's got someone else doing inks and finishes. It looks totally different than the last issue of Eternal, or his Black Canary/Zatanna OGN. And he's not credited on the little cover image up at the top of the OP.
I've checked around, and thus far all I can find is his name. I know doing the art for comics is a huge undertaking, and yeah it is odd that he's not listed on the cover, but for lack of any other information that's who I'm going with.
They are also listed on the credits on the cover. So it seems likely DC probably flubbed listing the credits, or had to get a fill-in given Quinones is now doing Howard the Duck.
