Since we're finally getting into the meat of Secret Wars, the tie-in books should finally start getting published within the next 2-3 months. I'm referring to this list of announced tie-ins here, which I hope is still up-to-date and nothing has changed too much.

Some of personal highlights for me after the cut

Per Polygon, Marvel announced another '90s-themed X-Men comic for Secret Wars, but this one is different fro two key reasons. First, X-Men '92 is a continuation of the popular 1992-97 animated series rather than a comic. Second, the series will debut digitally as one of Marvel's Infinite Comics, though a print version will also be published. The animated X-Men will occupy their own Battleworld domain during Secret Wars, one where President Robert Kelly now serves as Baron.

"I was ten years old in 1992," Sims told Polygon, "and that was the perfect time to get into the X-Men. There was just so much going on, and all those complicated stories and over-the-top characters were just so enticing, and not just because they were time-travelers with huge guns and scrappy little dudes with knives on their hands. It was this whole weird, complex world that I wanted to see more of, and now we're getting the chance to go in and make it even weirder."

Starts humming the theme song! My inner 90s child is so goddamn happy about this one!

As revealed by Newsarama, this series revisits the major X-Men crossover from 1989. Inferno explores a world where the X-Men never triumphed over their demonic enemies and Manhattan has become a permanent "Hell on Earth." Colossus and his sister Illyana will star, along with characters like Madelyne Pryor, N'astirh and S'ym.

The Inferno Saga is probably my favourite major sagas from the 90s. Much preferred it to the Phoenix Saga, because it was so HORRIFYING. The image of the possessed elevator bleeding blood from crushing passengers in it, the telescope grabbing people's eyeballs for itself, just plain horrific and I loved it!

The following ones I'm a little less stoked, but have some interesting things I wanna check out:

I don't actually care for House of M that much, but they did mention that #03 would have a HoM version of Wiccan and Speed (or are they 616 Wiccan and Speed that found themselves in the HoM battleworld?). So I'd pick it up just purely to see how they'd like, function in this world.

This is just being mean to fans lol. It's fanservice, but maybe it's hinting how status quos can be changed at the end of Secret Wars, depending on fan reaction aka sales.

I don't like obviously 'themed' teams that have an obvious link to social issues, but it's one of the few books not depending on some previous saga/nostalgia.

I might pick up the 1602 tie-ins, but I don't care for them focusing on Angela, a character I have no clue about and wasn't even in the original Marvel 1602 book.

Anyway, any highlights for you guys? I didn't really think I'd be excited by this whole event, but the trip down memory lane is pretty interesting, have to admit.

The Thors is strong in this one.

...Now I want the twist ending of Secret Wars to be that it's a prehistoric prequel to Star Wars.

Siege, mostly because I just like Kieron's writing and it seems to be every crazy thing in the Marvel Universe in one book, so fun... Also the Endless Summers is so stupid it goes back to being cool again.

X-MEN '92 reminds me that not ALL of the 1990s were bad for superhero comics. Yes, a lot of characters wore jackets and coats over their costumes for... reasons, but that worked in its own way. Plus, Jubilee isn't a vampire. That's always a plus.

I'm gonna check out all the x-titles, Thors, Angela, Shiklah's title, 1872 (a western), A-Force and probably a few others. I'm curious as to how many of those will get me to come back for issue #2.

I really want the 92 X-men team to replace the current one. Especially Cyclops..

It's basically the same guy. He still fights Wolverine every other day, he just has Jean and the professor grounding him.

I'm pretty excited for Runaways and Thors, and since Civil War is being written by Soule I think I might give it a shot too. I'm also excited about Old Man Logan, I think it'll fit Bendis' strengths well and I'm a big fan of Sorrentino's art.

I'm actually looking forward to quite a few of the Secret Wars minis in spite of myself; E for Extinction, Armor Wars, 1872, Ghost Racers, Planet Hulks, Siege, Weirdworld.

Not sure how many of them I'll bother to follow through to the end, but I'm sure some of them will prove to be enjoyable.
