I can't tell since this is just a small section of the full comic, but is it all so focused on the politics of mutants? Because political intrigue is really one of the things that I'm least interested in seeing with the X-Men.
Political intrigue in fiction is tricky under the best of circumstances. Although it can help up the tension in a fantasy story or science fiction. Putting it in a superhero comic is difficult.
well, with the mutants apparent MO being about fighting for their rights, you'd think there'd be more of this. But instead we just get the X-men fighting other mutants and vague sci-fi threats. So when this came out, at the time, it was a nice change of pace. Reminded me that mutants were actually an oppressed minority.
