Even with all of the miniseries that Carnage has starred in over the years I still think its surprising to see that he's getting an ongoing.

I have to admit I'm surprised that Cletus is still the man with the symbiote.

Definitely. Aside from being the unfashionably straight white male, his name is Cletus! And he doesn't seem the type to be able to hold a job, let alone a powerful alien symbiont in a world of people who avidly seek things like that out.
