"I feel like I spent an hour swimming in raw sewage." - Linkara
"I’m speechless. This is the single thing in this entire series that can still render me such, even on this, my third re-read of the book. Not that we’re going to run low on insanity from here on out. It’s just that this is easily the nadir." - Fletcher “Syrg” Arnett
Writer: Bill Jemas
Artist: Mark Bright
Inker: Paul Neary
Colorist: Transparency Digital
Because there are no good quotes from the creators, above are quotes from people who read this comic!
Welcome back to Marville Mondays. Let's move onto the second issue, which is the also the last of the parody.
Again, here's quick insider's guide to Marville.

With that out of the way, let's proceed, looking at random pieces from the comic.

For context, just check out Linkara's review on this issue.
Next time: Science and religion get beaten up for their lunch money.

Date: 2015-07-13 05:09 pm (UTC)I love to think that Jemas had already written this issue and submitted it to print before he checked out the sales from the previous month and realized "welp, lost that bet didn't I?"
And of course he kept the book going its entire run anyways because he's the boss and he can do what he wants and "I'M NOT STUPID YOU'RE STUPID NYAH NYAH NYAH!"
That would also explain why from issue 3 and on we go from "comic industry parody" to " pseudo philosophical garbage featuring worse science than an episode of Star Trek Voyager."

Date: 2015-07-13 06:35 pm (UTC)Jemas, not possessing anything resembling a sense of actual reality, assumed that his comic about Ted Turner's time traveling son from a thousand years in the future was going to win, so he decided to celebrate in the second issue by depicting his rival as a homeless man begging for money from his comics main characters. Because that's not petty or mean spirited in the slightest is it?

This series makes me weep for Marvel comics.

Date: 2015-07-14 02:11 am (UTC)In response, Jemas made the bet to reboot Captain Marvel and pit it against Marville, with the loser getting canceled.
Captain Marvel won hands down, but both series got canceled.

Date: 2015-07-14 03:30 am (UTC)Hell, for all I know David just tried to ignore all this shit and just did his job, since the only side of this I've seen is Marville (And I obviously wont see any of the Captain Marvel run here since Peter David stuff is verboten.)
