I'd say Ozymandias is a pretty fair comparison. Iron Man and Mr. Fantastic haven't gone as far, even in Civil War.

Tony let it happen. He *knew* what the end result would be anyway and that their efforts would be fruitless, and he let it happen.

Rex's first move as secret king of the world was a blitz attack on superheroes, killing a good number of them, and attacking their families. Says to me he knew what he was doing was wrong.

I wonder if the 'whole world is at peace' just means that he's killed everyone who disagrees with him.

Stories like this tend to push the notion that free will and power are best used in the hands of one-to-several absurdly brilliant geniuses because the rest of humanity is too stupid to govern itself.

And just docile the masses so they can stop hurting themselves with their bad decisions, etc. Yeah. I hate these. Evils Of Free Will and all.

Invincible has its ups and downs, but it's not afraid to pursue these philosophical and moral questions to see where they might lead. How far do you go in the name of the greater good? What sort of compromises do you make? When do you stop fighting?
Or, in Mark's case, how do you prioritize family over the world? And unlike a mainstream shared world like DC or Marvel, this one actually allows Kirkman to make lasting changes based on these choices.

It's kind of an impressive feat, even if you don't always agree with how he does it.
