Repeating the same joke for Cover #2 that they used for Cover #1 is a special devotion to the "Simpsons Did It" mythos.

...It's odd to be reminded that normal comic book forums have fights.

Anyway. Am I the only one who REALLY hates the argument that the internet makes people unable to relate to each other in real life?

I was the only geek in my group of RL friends. None, none of my RL friends ever gave the slightest damn about comics and videogames. My best friends occasionally tried reading a comic or playing a videogame with me because she knew that it made me happy, but it was obvious that she really wasn't enjoying it and was forcing herself to do it for my sake...

I tried making friends with fellow geeks at the local comic book store, but it didn't exactly go over well. Nobody was mean to me or actively tried to exclude me, but even the best meaning guys still looked at me as a potential girlfriend rather than a friend. I just wanted buddies to share my beloved hobbies with, I didn't want to date anybody.

The internet was a GODSEND. For the first time in my life, I was able to find other female geeks and make friends with them. Some of them have been my close friends for ten years now, we happily chat about the recent developments in our favourite comics and we play co-op on Steam in the weekends. And I got so many awesome fanart and fanfiction as gift! I treasure them all.

Tl;dr: the Internet is a gate to awesome friendships. It doesn't impede relationships, it opens the way to new ones.

I'm under the impression that Springfield's residents were always like that, whether online or in real life. It's just that when they interact in real life, things can get physical.

Ah, no, I get that. Sorry, I only meant to comment on this comic but I ended up digressing...

I saw A TON of anti-internet and anti-cellphone ads and "artworks" lately. Stuff like this:

It really irked me. So, when this comic reminded me of it, I went on a rant >_>

It's like they don't realize..

...that chatting on the internet or a phone is Human Interaction. Long distance but still you're communicating with other humans.

This situation has happened before. Have you ever seen the episode where Itchy and Scratchy was changed to be more friendly due to complaints of violence (specifically Maggie's homicidal tendencies towards Homer).

Yeah, but for that one, even if it was hugely exaggerated for laugh, I could sort of see their point. Technically, watching TV is a one-sided human-machine thing, and presumably if you are watching TV you are not simultaneously speaking with people (even if TV shows are an excellent topic of conversation later).

But with internet and cell phones, people bitch and whine that it keeps you from having human interactions even while you are literally communicating with other human beings that very moment. I'm like, you realize I'm not texting to a wall, right? You realize I'm sending words to another person and that person is sending words to me? If we are human exchanging words why does that not count as human interaction?
