You know, I'm impressed that Hitch resisted the urge to use the actual Avengers actors as his photo refs for the characters, though I guess Bradley Cooper isn't very far.

The Galaxy Quest comparison is too strong to overlook, but there are worse ideas to rip off homage.

This looks not bad. Thing is, I'm sure I've seen the concept done for superheroes before, and it's bugging me I can't remember where.

Only for one character, but there was a German fumetti webcomic with the premise that someone from "our Earth" had to replace a fallen superhero due to being their alternate universe counterpart.

Again, not superheroes, but I'm maybe thinking of the episode of "Eerie, Indiana" which had the main character changes places with the actor who played him, and that was in 1991, so 8 years before Galaxy Quest. (I think Hercules: The Legendary Journey and Supernatural have done the same thing)

I get a little sad/annoyed/whatever that when plots like this happen, people say "Galaxy Quest" instead of "Three Amigos." Maybe it is just the sci-fi element.

Still, in this case, Smitty is aware he brought a bunch of actors to his world
