This is why Eleven remains my favourite modern era Doctor, though Twelve is gradually coming closer.

It's because - much more than Ten - he comes off as a genuinely nice guy.

Technically Kamelion was the FIRST shapeshifte, the last one would have been Forbisher the Penguin. :)

One thing that always impressed me about Eleven was just how effortlessly Matt Smith could project the fact he was old.... REALLY old. A common worry when he was cast was how could someone who was that young (and young looking... seriously he looked like an the worlds tallest teenager and at least 35% elbows) could manage to project any air of authority, "The Doctor", He doesn't even look like "The Med Student", and within about ten minutes you found yourself thinking; "Yup, he's several centuries old no question about it")

And a Doctor with an older looking assistant is usually fun; Evelyn Smythe and the wonderful Donna Noble spring to mind.
