You can't set it to Nessun Dorma, but it's still a nice bit of Turk getting his.

I don't really think Bendis is racist but how has Turk ever been anything but a cringe-worthy caricature with no POV. The "'your baby mama,' 'which one?'" thing is like c'mon Bendis stop

(also where is the "smacck" sound effect coming from in that one panel?)

I think it's Daredevil whacking Turk one across the face between speech bubbles. Of course the inks and linework make it damned hard to see.

And yeah. While people like him do exist, that doesn't mean he doesn't come off really badly on a metatextual level.

Yeah there are definitely Turks in the world, and I think Bendis mostly included that scene to (rightly) criticize parents who abandon their kids, but since it comes totally out of left field and with no real purpose to the plot, it just reads poorly

This is the first time I've heard that Turk was an offensive stereotype.

And yeah, as for Bendis, the guy is basically Luke Cage's #1 cheerleader at this point.

Pretty damn nice, but I really do hope that at some point we get to see another writer take on Jessica Jones as something more than a background character.

I think Bendis would be willing to let it happen, to be honest; he cut the cord on Luke and Jess after leaving the Avengers books and I get the feeling he was eager to see where other writers went with that if he chose not to.

But yeah, I would have hoped she'd get a new book in the wake of the TV show; obviously Daredevil needed no such attention, as Waid's run was still ongoing and reprints are happening all the time, but Jess deserves way more than a slightly rebranded reprint of the Alias trades.
