And that's Wolverine as in X-23, Laura Kinney.

6 lettered pages have cropped up on Bleeding Cool

I'm not sold on Angel's fire-wings here and don't see how they could be any sort of a natural extension of having feathery wings (To be honest, I don't even know WHICH Angel this is supposed to be, the young one, or the old one with no memory of being the old one...)

Also, I never understand why people are shown leaping off the Eiffel Tower and NOT braining themselves within a could of dozen feet, it's not a skyscraper with vertical walls, it rahter noticeably TAPERS! It gets wider the lower you go.... Oh well, never mind.

That's the young angel after having been transformed by The Black Vortex, a cosmic item thingy from Humphries event of the same name from some time back.

In that vein, what's the deal with Adult!Angel right now? Is he still kicking around or is Marvel reveling in the freedom of having a less hilariously complex version? (Though given that he's a time traveller and has already got magic space wings I don't expect that "uncomplicated" label to stick for long.)

There's some version of Archangel that will be on Cullen Bunn's Uncanny X-Men in December, but there's no telling who or what version it is.

Are Angel and Gamorra the only ones who kept the Black Vortex upgrade?

I believe Groot did as well, which is why he looks a little different in GOTG.

I love the idea of Laura being the new Wolverine. I do not like the idea of her wearing Logan's old costume, it looks super weird.

Yeah, I actually kind-of much preferred the costume she was given alongside the rest of the old All-New X-Men cast. This - with the hair coming out of the back of the cowl - just makes me think of Wild Thing, although marginally less ridiculous. I could still do without any reminders of MC2 at all.

It didn't look much better on the old Wolverine, for that matter. Ahh, the 90's.

Logan's costume was much improved when they changed the colours to browns, something apparently completely lost on Jim Lee and Bob Harras. Wow, that was almost a quarter century ago!

Anyway, Laura deserves her own costume.

On the one hand, yay Laura's not calling herself 'Wolverine' any more. Seriously, she should have got a new codename years ago. And it makes sense if anyone was going to take Logan's name, it'd be her.

On the other hand, there's a whole bunch of stuff clearly left over from Bendis (including her voice that sounds nothing like how she'd been written before and of course, the utterly moronic 'All-New X-Men' and the relationship with Angel that only exists because Rucka wanted to take Scott off on space adventures).

Ugh, if she was going to hook up with any of her former X-Force teammates (time-displaced or otherwise), it should have been Elixir. That would actually kind of work.

I miss the Liu run (not helped by the fact Laura jumped off the Eiffel Tower there, too). Is it too much to ask for her to come back?

I'm saying that it's a good thing she's no longer going by X-23 anymore. Because that'd be like Logan calling himself 'Weapon X'. The people giving her that name gave it to dehumanise her. Honestly they should have said 'screw it' and dubbed her Talon back in the New X-Men days.

I was also saying that it makes sense that it would be Laura to take the name. Since unlike any of the other 'Wolverines', she's really the only one that counts as a hero. So I'm happy about that, since she's the most qualified to take the name and more representation is always good.

I don't dispute anything about the quality of Rucka's writing Cyclops (I'll be honest, I never read it) - but it's quite clear that it Bendis largely seemed to cross out 'Scott' and replace it with 'Warren' for all his subsequent scripts when it came to Laura. And I'm not really crazy about either. Or Laura's 'voice' in that book at all, to be honest.

I mean I guess I'm grateful that Bendis kept her out of Avengers Undercover, but I swear it seems like Hopeless had a better grasp on her character than he did. I mean the fact she got put into All-New X-Men, a book which shouldn't exist for the very simple reason that Bendis established that Time Travel was officially done for the foreseeable future with Age of Ultron.

Man writes a damn fine Spider-Man, but on stuff with long continuity and well-established characterisation, he seems to take a rather laissez-faire view of things. Which kind of sucks, because right now it seems his interpretation of Laura has supplanted the far superior version Liu did.

Better to die as good fiction than live as bad, as the saying goes.

Anyone else been reading this? It's pretty good so far. There's a great flashback with her and Logan that I quite like.
