The goblin head fashion statements on the prison transport didn't clue the villains to something being off? Well, okay, they're who they are so that might be expecting too much of them.
Those weren't fashion statements, they were junior goblins locked into steel straitjackets. I think at least one of the word balloons is supposed to come from one of them.
It's not just the masks, the goons in the police van are straight up children, while the Silk pages clearly have them drawn and proportioned as adults.
I am happy to see Peter acting like an adult. Maybe its just me but he seemed to be just a petulant child who cared more about assuaging his own guilt them living up to his responsibilities for a long time.
I have a hard time believing he is actually dead despite what the dialogue says. That seems like a lot of trouble to go through just to execute someone.
Yeah, at this point there's like what, as many as three different versions of the Ox that might be running around, including his twin brother who took over after the first one exploded, except that possibly the second Ox was just another version of the first and...
All this for a guy whose shtick is being "strong and tough" and whose only true claim to fame is being invented in the '60s when that was still something to write home about.
(Look, I LOVE the Enforcers. But they're a strong guy, a rope guy, and a karate guy in a superhero world. They're lucky they've done as well as they have. Villains introduced in Marvel's early days either became classics, or utterly forgotten... and there are a lot who suffered horrible fates decades ago. The original Ani-Men, anyone?)
After all -that-... I hope that Regent isn't actually killing any of the villains he captures, because I hate wasting perfectly good villains and I hate Regent and his shtick.
Corporate Spider-Man still isn't an idea that I'm too keen on and Dan Slott's take on Peter Parker has never clicked for me, but overall this looks pretty decent.
I do wonder though, given how long Slott's been on the book and how much he's changed up the status quo, how long until all of these changes go out the window. Because Marvel clearly recognizes a market for a more on-brand version of the character, just look at the upcoming "Spidey" series, and Slott has shifted pretty far from that.
I'm also dying to know what's going on with Miles Morales' series. What's the premise, is Miles a multiversal refugee rather than a normal kid? Is the supporting cast (AKA the best thing about Ultimate Spider-Man, as Miles himself is a cipher.) completely gone? Is Bendis going to be able to move the character in a genuinely new direction or will it be more of the same?
I was ready to hate this. I'm still fence-sitting on it. But the idea of Parker giving that corporate speech with his fly open--yeah, that's Pete, all right.
actually... tony stark without the baggage and more centered on humanity than Futurity. Futurity has tended to be Tony's biggest issue, since he justified most of his actions by saying "it;s for the good of the future"
Fair enough. I think I meant to say: Batman. Because at this point, Black Cat is now Catwoman, Parker Industries is now Wayne Enterprises, and the Spider-Mobile is basically the Batmobile.
woah... this is a lot of stuff being thrown at me (admittedly, a lot of stuff i kinda like...) but i think i need some explainations...
1) how did Peter level up? i assume most of this is due to Ock and his building of parker industries... but what made him finally sorta crawl out of uncle ben's shadow while also taking his legacy to the next level? that is HUGE character development for him...
2) all the extra spider people. i assume miles is here because of hte destruction of the ultimate verse. and the others are the comics version of the Web Warriors?
1) I'm just glad he is. Pete was stagnant for a while. I don't want to see this undone. (And apparently Silk is the NYC-based, Daily-Bugle-associated character now.)
2) Peter Porker, Gwen!Spider-Woman, and the other three reality-hoppers are alternate-reality Spider-people. The other two are Jessica Drew, who has been around for a long time and isn't directly connected to Petey; and Silk, who is basically a female version of Pete.
