Midnighter is a weird POV character especially under Ennis... He's kind of insufferably smug.

Wow, Middy. Sergeant Bitch? Really? Also, if we're dealing with 96th century timecops, shouldn't his enhancements be as laughably ineffective vs their restraint (and body-mod) tech as, say, a caveman's workout routine would be against a tank?

Since they had him handcuffed in a locker and conscious rather than in stasis or any other such nifty process, it's entirely possible that they weren't permitted any advanced or obvious tech besides the ship, lest it be accidentally abandoned in the past and reverse-engineered.

Sure, but they made it a point to mention that she had genetic modifications that made her more durable, and thus able to survive the crash. So if she can have them at all, why wouldn't she, and the rest of the crew, have ones that make Middy's 20th-century, Henry-Bendix installed tech look like a joke?

Kind of a moot point: they don't. The end.

Maybe the mods fell out of favor in the 84th century in favor of purely genetic tech. Maybe they aren't that advanced except for genetic engineering and time travel due to some manner of dark age or schism. Maybe they picked up an early 21st-century dude in a leather gimp suit in 1938 Germany and didn't think to take him at all seriously until it was too late, because dudes randomly fucking around with Hitler have got to be the time-cop equivalent of a traffic ticket. Maybe they're modded enough that if the fight had extended beyond a sucker punch and a quick exit, they'd have stomped him flat, or whipped out the time-stop technology that they caught him with in the first place.

Either way, it's not exactly a hole in the story. It's just nitpicking.

Yea, something I don't like about Ennis. Sure, he'll point out how casual homophobia is bad, while have his characters act casually sexist constantly.

Eh, standard superhero-future stuff. The future is better but most stuff is just somewhat-better equivalents save for the future-supers and the time tech/space travel/yadda yadda.
