It's weird. Kind of interesting, but weird.

Still finding it difficult to parse this guy as Doom, and I'm not talking just about the external appearance.

I love it. The small scar "marring" his face is just icing on the cake. THIS Doom didn't freak out and put a burning hot mask on his face over a small mare of "imperfection".

I can't wait to see what a Doom he actually got some therapy can do.

Thinking about him as a version of Doom makes it easier.

Granted, this appears to be a much less theatrical, dramatic, or arrogant Doom; at which point you have to wonder if that makes him a Doom at all. But if he can pull off the 'Magnificent Bastard' angle, it could work.

Do we really know this is Doom? Know one but the Fantastic Four or Doom's immediate family really know what Doom looks like under the mask. Tony's computer might be saying this is Doom but that might not actually be true.

I really like how Bendis writes Tony. It's also good to see an actual Iron Man villain (a female one no less) as the main antagonist of this arc (assuming that Madame Masque stays the main threat throughout of course). Doom, well without seeing the end of Secret Wars it's kind of hard to judge (or if he's playing some kind of long con on Tony). He does still look weird without his cape/armor though.

This doesn't feel like Doom at all, unfortunately.
DOOM IS NOT SO CASUAL WHEN DEALING WITH HIS INFERIORS. STARK IS AN INFERIOR.
I know, right? It's like this Doom is way too mellow.
DOOM DOES NOT ASK NICELY. DOOM COMMANDS.
Is this seriously supposed to be the same guy who we've known and loved all these years?
AT LEAST DOOM HAS GREAT HAIR. MAYBE DOOM SHALL GROW FACIAL HAIR LIKE STARK NOW.

I just wish Dr. Doom were one of the handful of characters (Spider-Man, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones) that Bendis could write with a distinctive individual voice rather than generic Bendis-speak. It pains me to say this, but Hickman writes a better Doom.

Besides not sounding like Doom, I didn't like that Tonys brand new, super advanced, beyond anything he'd ever designed before armor, couldn't even make Dooms magical shields flinch. Not a good first showing there Tony.

Ah that Wand. I remember the one story I read with it in it. That weird old guy in the green spandex and monocle who went to really absurd lengths to resurrect his girlfriend. Spiderman was in it too.
