Yeah, even I think this is...well, "strawmanning" would be an understatement here.
Are there any comic-book storylines that deal with this topic somewhere IN BETWEEN the stances of "Islam is synonymous with terrorism" and "no Muslim anywhere, anytime has ever been involved with terrorism and it's all a frame job?"
A rabbi I know once put it this way: "Liberal churches [i.e., denominations] love Judaism but hate Israel; conservative churches love Israel but hate Judaism." He was generalizing, by his own admission, but there's some truth to that, I think.
Pretty sure the atheist/agnostic liberals tend more towards "all religion sucks, period" but are happy to point out the raging hypocrisy of groups that scream to the heavens (no pun intended) about their "religious freedom" being curtailed when groups they don't like get civil rights and then effectively call for the United States to become a de-facto theocracy where those that don't share their religion simply aren't welcome.
Yeeeeah, maybe you should actually try and find an example of someone criticizing Islam on an ideological level that isn't cherry-picking verses or continually ignoring the intersection of culture, sociopolitical environment, and religion that creates those areas where the most extreme variations of Islam flourish. Further, if they weren't using those arguments as an excuse for depriving them of their own individual rights or (implicitly) calling for their extermination, then sure...maybe they're not a bigot or islamophobe!
Islam sucks, Christianity Sucks, but both of them have abhorrent doctrines outlined in their respective books. It's just that so-called-Christians have gotten better about selectively ignoring any part of their book that doesn't support whatever argument they're having at the moment, or reveals that in the grand scheme of things their religion isn't all that different from Islam.
Ya gotta LOL at them using Trump's line in that last page...Some take this with a grain of salt, I'm jus loving it as a total farce...and giving them props to be pushing the envelope like this...
They're not pushing the envelope. Christians and the US government are safe, easy targets. They are safe, easy targets because although they are powerful groups, they do not abuse that power to flat-out murder cartoonists who draw things that offend them.
They're not even making the right attacks against Christians and the US government. Call the Obama Administration out for actively protecting the CIA's torturers from justice and I'd have some respect for them, but not for this 9/11 Truther bullshit.
