Good grief, that scene of post-mind rape Elise is HORRIBLE.

And much like the whole Darth Vader in RotJ , it makes me sort of not care that Daddy was redeemed, given the extent and nature of his crimes I'm not sure he'd earned it, or else he will have to work spectacularly hard to do so.

Still, I suppose that's what mercy is for...

Pretty much. Forgiveness and Redemption are only value concepts if they aren't cheap."Forgiving" Wolverine doesn't mean much. Forgiving Sabertooth on the other hand....

Forgiving Wolverine isn't so easy that I've actually done it. I've viewed him as a horrible person since he stabbed Rachel Summers to keep her from killing Selene.

On the other hand, mercy is the last thing Bloodstone, Sr. would have ever shown an enemy, so Elsa's choice serves as the ultimate repudiation of him and his lessons, no? Thus, in the end she wins.

There's also the fact that this is hardly unqualified forgiveness / redemption, given the whole "one step outta line and I beat you to death with your own face" clause.
