Red Hood/Arsenal #2-3
Nov. 13th, 2015 03:39 pm
"In a way, Jason and Roy are the best thing that ever happened to one another — even if they can't always admit it to each other.
Before they met, Jason was a violent, angry vigilante with only revenge on his mind. Roy was a directionless action junkie who took ridiculous self-destructive risks. When they finally wound up in each others orbit something pretty spectacular happened to both guys." - Scott Lobdell
Writer: Scott Lobdell
Artist: Denis Meori
Colorist: Tanya Horie
Keeping this short and simple, especially someone already did a past post on #2, basically Red Hood and Arsenal get a mission from the lady they rescued in the first issue to recover something in Paris. Thus, it leads to this...

Then onto #3, where a problem arises.

She fires them both on the spot. Jason then asks Harper, where the heck did the money go they earned that they need to now start making more money.

"I got an e-mail this morning. We're already got our first real client!"

Such a move caused Jason to shoot him to pieces...

The issue ends with the two of them deciding to completely dismantle Underbelly's criminal organization and their first stop will be in Gotham... where Robo-Bat-Bunny-Cop is.
More next time!

Date: 2015-11-13 11:57 pm (UTC)Guys, you know I'm a huge Jason fan.
...But this time even I have to admit that Bruce/Dick/Tim should definitely kick his ass. Working as mercenary is good and all but don't drag the family name and dad's Mission into it. Uncool, Jason, uncool.

Date: 2015-11-14 12:34 am (UTC)Jim Gordon is for all intents and purposes a member of the Batclan, and as a cop he carries a gun and can shoot at criminals if he has to. Last I checked (admittedly pre52) Batwoman was also willing to kill if absolutely necessary.
The problem with pre-Heel Face turn Jason was that he murdered criminals, as in he killed them solely for revenge. But if Jason now only kills when he has to (like when he shot the hostage-taker) then he isn't really that different from law enforcers like Gordon, especially considering that in this series he has the explicit support of the FBI.
EDIT: of course in this specific instance he definitely murdered the slimey guy. Could be a case of "What measure is a non human" though, I don't know how they act in the rest of the series.

Date: 2015-11-14 05:43 am (UTC)Not that I mind. Underbelly seems to be about as silly as The Slug as far as this sort of crime boss goes.
What is with all the evil fat guys, anyway? Kingpin, Whale, Slug, Shadow King, Underbelly...

Denis Medri did such a fantastic job on the art for this series and it makes me sad that he has left the book.
