That was an inside baseball joke, I think. Pretty sure that was supposed to be Fraction and DeCormick, a married? couple that both work in comics/Marvel.

It's not a stretch (weirdly, I hadn't quite realized just how much Fraction looks like a stereotypical scene kid until just now), but those two in the book are way more Prototypical Brooklyn Hipster than anything else.

Except that they have two kids and don't work for Marvel. And Fraction has his nipples pierced, not his ear. I think you're reaching in calling that couple Milkfed Criminal Masterminds

In all fairness, it would not be the first time Fraction has self-inserted. He had an issue-long cameo in "FF", and was briefly seen being scalded in the last issue of "Sex Criminals".

That may be, but they were still used as vessels for a handful of jokes that made me significantly less interested in the book.

Oh, come on! The riff on Jonathan and Martha Kent is funny. Plus, if the woman had red hair, they'd be dead ringers for Matt Fraction and Kelly de Connick.

This felt much more driven and purposeful than the Secret Wars series

Honestly, the Secret Wars series seemed to be a prologue to this series.

Guess we'll see if its any good in the long run.

It deeply pains me to agree with Medusa. But I think I should abandon all hope for a halfway decent happy ending (As in they actually give Singularity to that thing she gets destroyed and this book is done).

Well, my preferred happy ending would involve retconing the Secret Wars series into something that didn't destroy its only saving grace for propping up this bland little patch of sky as a savior. But that is never meant to be.
