Y'know, my cousin actually purchased the first issue and loved it. Much later, we're at a bookstore and I showed him the trade, flipping to this issue, where he promptly marveled at how fast it spun downward in quality.

so batman is a bigger dick than normal was the rift they decided to go for along with that car being utterly ridiculous. When they proposed this i'm gonna assume after all-star superman did go yeah everything that made that story good lets to do the opposite cause its batman?

Wow, the ridiculousness is everywhere. The self pity. Crashing into another car. Abusing a traumatised boy. Dick being able to resist this gas he's using which should tell us the boy's some concept of strong. So MUCH MORE!

The art is nice, but then it's Jim Lee on form, so that's like saying water is wet. The writing's just a hilarious clusterfuck that has to be parody, though.

I do think this is maybe a parody of Batman - Frank intentionally lampshading just how farcical some portrayals of Batman had gotten in taking cues from him and making the character insanely dark and 'cool'.

Holy Terror is something else entirely.

It's fascinating. No matter how many times I read this, I always find something that makes me shake my head at the insanity of it all.

Today it's Batman's stubble (which he didn't have at the end of the last issue).

Or the bizarrely sensual way he seems to say "Ward", and the joke being that he's saying this to a child who does not get it.

The sadder thing? This could work as a take on the Robin origin. Batman has to save The Grayson Boy from some corrupt Gotham City cops. Except this Batman as crazy.

Poor Dick! He watches his parents get murdered right in front of him and then he's kidnapped by a crazy man. He's got strength, but it won't be enough against this loony tune.
