It's "Off-Topic Tuesday" time!

In the comments to these weekly posts (and only these posts), it's your chance to go as off topic as you like.

Talk about non-comics stuff, thread derail, and just generally chat amongst yourselves.

So Ziggy Stardust is back amongst the stars, not the best start to the year :(

It's also 50 years to the day since the launch of the Batman TV series! So happy Golden Anniversary to Adam West and Burt Ward's depictions of the Dynamic Duo!

What was massively impressive about Bowie was that he made his final album into an intricate performance piece, whose complete meaning could only be understood in the context of his death. "Black Star" is a great album - but when you know that he was working on it with the knowledge of his own mortality the entire time, suddenly the lyrics, the symbolism, the music videos all snap into place. (And the final shot of the music video for "Lazarus" becomes almost frightening.)

I almost wonder - though probably it's just my apophenia kicking in - if he specifically timed the release until he knew that he had only 3-5 days left, for the symbolism; "Lazarus" being 'raised' (i.e. released into the public sphere) three days before he died, rather than three days after.

Still. It was a hell of a way to say goodbye, and so beautifully in-character for him - especially when you consider that he chose to keep it private, didn't indulge in interviews or get mobbed by paparazzi, and spent his final moments surrounded by loved ones.

My first thought was actually that he timed his death. I don't mean deliberately -- but it's not unheard of for people who are dying to hold out for a specific event or circumstance. One way or another, though, there's not a doubt in my mind that, calculating showman that he was, he was calculating until the end.

A friend and I are going to lay flowers by his house today, and then have our first listen-through to Black Star.

my theory was he was meant to release Black Star upon his death, or on his birthday if he made it there first- and he did.

I've decided to learn to crochet ^^

A friend of mine makes the most OMG CUTE AWESOME crochet plushes and she posts pictures of them on her blog. For a year I've been watching her make those SUPAH SWEET dolls on my dashboard, and there is only so much I can take before I feel the urge to at least try and make something too.

If you make something half as good as those you will be far more awesome than I can ever dream of being. Good luck with the practice, and my compliments to your friend's incredible skill.

I was trying to out where I saw this one comic (I tried searching tags here but came up with nothing).

It was a Wolverine bit where Kitty and Jubliee argued about who was the better sidekick, while Logan himself wandered around in a naked daze.

Did I imagine it?

Need your opinion folks! I've loved marvel for a long time, and I've been thrilled with the cinematic universe. One of my favorite parts is how they set up hydra, so when I saw a dark grey shirt with the red hydra logo on it, I really liked it and thought about getting it in the near future. However, I got to thinking: could it be interpreted as nazi-ish rather than as a symbol of my love for marvel? Hydra did, after all, develop out of the ranks of nazis. Just wanted to see what other people might think.

Ehhh. They kicked this one in the teeth pretty soundly on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., when Ward is trying to argue the point with Skye and she shuts him down with "SHIELD handbook, chapter one. The Red Skull, founder of Hydra, was a big, fat, freaking Nazi". (Fans still pull this one out when people claim Ward is 'misunderstood' or 'not really a bad guy'.)

I'm going to assume you don't endorse genocide (in the same way that someone wearing the Imperial symbol is a Star Wars fan and doesn't support blowing up planets). But there might be one or two people who give you funny looks. Dunno.

I'd say you should buy the shirt if you want to. Hopefully, people will understand the shirt doesn't represent Nazi support.

Lewis Lovhaug has rekindled my liking for Power Rangers, and so I am rewatching Dino Thunder on Netflix. The next series, dubbed Ninja Steel, has been announced and will presumably use footage from Ninninger (I'm a bit saddened that ToQger isn't being adapted, but still). Would anyone recommend another good Super Sentai series to watch?

Also, did anyone see or hear of infamous hacker group OURMINE stealing Markiplier's Youtube account?

There's stuff I want to do and stuff I need to do but I just can't get up the motivation to do any of them.

Also for those of you who are into anime stuff a great podcast called podtaku has ended. I understand the reasoning of the guy who put a stop to it but still I'll miss it.
