Here are from bits from Paul Dini's graphic novel Bloodspell which I liked, and kind of make me wish that there was a series about the young adventures of Zatanna. Admittedly her pre-Reboot solo series did have flashbacks to her as a kid (complete with capturing a thief with a speak and spell as her new braces made it hard for her to talk properly), but there's a lot of potential there.
Firstly, when a 12 year old Zatanna met a 16 year old Dinah for the first time.

Secondly, so years later when Zatanna joins the Justice League, the reference to the "Hawks" is nod to how Zatanna actually debuted in Hawkman 4 way back when (her dad being an old school Golden Age character).

And finally, another flashback to Zee and Dinah's past, this time from the Satellite Era.

And I don't buy that you can duck the canary cry so easily). Overall the final result is great.
