I almost like Frank-- when he feels reflective, when he's not a kill-crazy obsessed nut.

Not commenting on the politics, though. As an American who's never been to Ireland,Northern or main, any comments would be superficial, probably ignorant, certainly misinformed.

Sort of like Castle.

Well Ennis did grow up during the Troubles, so understandably he'd have rather a dim view of the situation (the sectarian violence also explains where his dislike of religion comes from too).
