So Mirai has been shot through the heart by the girl he's has a crush on wielding red arrows. Let's see how that goes...






Saki's angel reminds her of the plan she's suppose to do in this situation. She nods and solemnly asks Mirai if he has wings. He says he does, while internally gushing all over her...




So he heads to the place and waits inside, just creepily repeating over and over that he loves her and is in eternal bliss currently. Saki eventually comes home after the ceremony and she and her angel ask him a few questions. It eventually leads to this...






They do some practice flying to get the hang on things (though Saki does not seem to be into it at all. Frankly, she seems more depressed than anything). Then later...








Mirai falls for it and declares that he'll go track down and kill Metropoliman to protect Saki no matter what. However...


No you won't.








Saki steps in and pleads with Mirai not to go, which convinces not to go.










They ultimately team up and 33 days later, the Red Arrow affect wears off. He goes back to normal, though confessing to Saki that he has felt happiness being around her regardless of being under the influence of the arrow. She admit she wants to find her own happiness as well now... but without him and on her own terms.


Anyhow, they get an alert on their phones then...













Despite it being a trap... the day comes the issue ends with our lead coming to the stadium to check out what exactly will be happening. Whatever it is, it cannot be good, since there was an earlier scene omitted for room that showed Metropoliman. He was frustrated that none of the candidates showed up to fight him when his angel suggested that they were all afraid of dying. That's when he smiled and seemed to come up with a plan right there...

I did not like this chapter very much. What i liked about the series is just how Alien the angel acted. with Metropolyman's Angel i felt the same alienness. But I feel like Revel acts too human.

the way they explain the Red Arrows, I'm not sure Mirai's decisions after the 33 days are entirely his own and the whole "but if you love the person who shot the red arrow" just rubs me the wrong way.

Gotta agree that the magic roofie thing is insanely creepy. The only saving grace is that Saki was very clearly unhappy with it and only rolled with it because her angel convinced her that it was necessary to save her life, and even then refused to let him do anything actually dangerous or romantic/sexual. Still pretty bad though, and the "purity and innocence" angel going all "you are supposed to brainwash the girl you love into loving you back thehehehehe" is pretty horrifying.

The art is gorgeous as usual. I'm curious to see if this will go the way of Battle Royale, or if they'll find a way to avoid killing each other by the end.

Even in Battle Royale, the students found ways to avoid killing each other. Most of them did not choose to kill others -- they either offed themselves or were all killed by the few students who went along with the Program.

Still, one way or another, they were killed off. I'm wondering if there is a way to actually save their lives here. Obviously some characters are going to die, but can a group of characters survives or must it be "there can only be one!"?

TBF, in Battle Royale more than one student made it. Though even then the "winner" had to fake the deaths of the others.

Also, no one HAS to die for the position of Godhood - killing the other contestants is just a possible method of doing so.

I think Nasse's innocence is both a good and bad thing - good since she's less tempted by material pleasures and relatively wants for nothing but what she sets her mind to (in this case, making Mirai happy) but bad because she doesn't properly understand the difference between what's considered right and wrong and what's appropriate to others (like how she just casually and happily suggests murdering Mirai's Aunt and Uncle - not out of evil or malice, but because that was just a simple means to an end).

I find it interesting that even though Mirai already liked Saki, the Red Arrow STILL had a very obvious and disturbing effect on his judgement.

Why does Metropoliman sound - and even look, in silhouette - more like a character better suited to Adam Warren's Empowered?

I guess is that, whenever there is a "superhero" in manga, they take inspiration from Kamen Rider/Super Sentai/Ultraman... whenever it is not just a Superman expy...
