New Suicide Squad trailer, which seems to be almost a teeny bit like an attempt to showcase that the film will be more Quote-unquote "Fun" than Batman v Superman.

Well they seem to be humanising the various characters, which is a nice touch. Not so hot on how Harley is sexualised though, even if she is in the comics to an extent... I don't know, it kind of weirds me out. Kind of curious as to whether the Joker is going to be the main villain, or whether that's just tricksy editting and that Enchantress will be the one the team is assembled to fight/recruit... the latter idea possibly being backed up by the black slime people.

Katana looks like she'll be cool though! :D

Ayer's conjuring up some serious black magic to give Harley several lines in the trailer and I'm actually liking her. My usual reaction to her, as with a great many DCAU things (especially post-TAS Batman) is to reach for the closest sharp object in my immediate vicinity to end my goddamn misery.

Kudos to you Ayer.

It's weird how they have Harley as this eye-candy suicide-girl type in certain shots (with free ableist jokes! Yayyy), and yet at the end there she's being more of the former-psychiatrist, mother-hen type we know from the comics. Wonder if that bit actually comes from the "Fun" reshoots they've been doing recently.

Didn't it come out that those reshoots were happening but not for more fun. Think even one of Farcai's buddies said he was wrong.

Yeah, I was under the impression that the reshoots were more about the action scenes.

I just think it's two sides of her character, the former being a front and the latter she lets out with people she actually cares about. Of course, that's reading a lot into a two minute trailer but I think it's a possibility.

she could just be a multifaceted character.

In a DC movie? Come on now. Crazy talk is what that is.

Looks good, although I am convinced the trailers are a pretty big misdirect even if I am not certain of Joker's role in the story.

The 'joke' reshoot rumors, by the way, amuse me so much as I don't know why someone would look at the first trailer and come with an impression that this was a gritty, funless movie.

I agree completely. Unless that trailer was utterly misleading and the movie is all kinds of Snyderian grimdark.

Hmmmm, Snyderian. I like that.

Yeah, but the DC movie trailers have been completely honest about their tones so far, so I don't know why suddenly some people are convinced that they would have been lying with the Suicide Squad trailer. Especially since it came out at the same time as the BvS trailer.

The issue was that, apparently, pretty much every joke in the film worth a damn was actually IN that first trailer.

You mean the claim denied by everyone involved in the production of the movie or is in anyway in the know about. Or was this said by someone who had seen the movie?

Again, how does this seem like a logical claim? Their whole marketing is centered around the dark humor approach to the movie, so they decided to utterly lie about the tone of the movie despite being completely truthful about the tone of both MoS and BvS?

I'm psyched for this movie. I did not see BvS and am not planning to, for reasons I've already mentioned, but Suicide Squad looks like it's gonna be fun.

And I don't have a problem with Harley's portrayal judging from the trailers I've seen so far. She's supposed to be sexy. That's always been a part of her appeal, regardless of costume or backstory. (And Margot Robbie can rev up my Harley anytime, rowr.) If the movie only had her changing clothes, winking and flirting, and such, then yes, I'd have a problem, because of course she's capable of much, much more. But it doesn't look like that'll be the case.

Not feeling Harley. Joker I'm on the fence. He looks alright when he's not showing off all his tattoos.

I'm still not quite used to the "punk" Joker look, yeah. Especially the teeth.

Also a lot of the tattoos come across as someone paying homage to the Joker (like a Heath Ledger fanboy) as opposed to what he would do. Writing "HA HA HA" all over his chest seems too on the nose even for him.

To me Joker's look is one of those classic things that doesn't need fixing. Ledger's version was close enough to the classic version even with the white face paint over bleached skin.

To paraphrase 'Mean Girls'

Stop trying to make Katana happen -- it's not going to work!

And this is coming from someone who loves Katana, at least, the pre-52 version.

I want this movie to be good -- to surprise me as much as 'Guardians of the Galaxy' did, but I don't think it is even going to be as fun (to me) as the DTV Assault on Arkham animated offering.

Just not sure -- and, using the trailer as an excuse -- this assemblage couldn't even slow Superman down.

I will still see it, and hope it is good.

Enchantress could... also, give deadshot kryptonite bullets.

Fair point with Enchantress, not sure on the Kryptonite bullets (without spoilers for the movie, this would have been the EASIEST way to end the conflict, and they weren't even considered) -- nevermind the potential cost.

I still hope the movie is good, despite how tone-terrible BvS came off.

Nope. Man of Steel killed any interest I have in this version of the DCU.

The other trailer I saw also looked like they were selling this movie as more fun than Batman vs Superman, and it is weird to me that the movie about serial killers with kill switches implanted in them if they disobey looks more fun than one involving Superman.

Deadpool, which was loads of fun, was about a cancer patient whose treatment left him disfigured and thinking that his girlfriend wouldn't want him any more, and it was hilarious. There's a big potential for this to be on that level, especially with Will Smith and Margot Robbie involved, but there's also a big potential for it to be a kicksplodey mess with lines that are supposed to be funny.

That's the problem with the DCEU in a nutshell.

I laughed when I heard the rumor about reshoots for 'more fun' in Suicide Squad. DC is making the big bucks but they predict BvS won't make the billion-dollar mark worldwide. They've been panned by the critics, but more importantly, by the fans. We are the people who will go multiple times if we really like the movie. Bet most people are seeing it once and saving their money for CA: CW next month.

I've heard there was a big drop off in ticket sales after the opening days of BvS. I don't intend to see BvS, but I'm going to see CA: CW during its opening weekend.

A few of Snyder's movies had good trailers that hid what the movie was actually going to be like. I don't think that's the case here. I'll still be waiting for reviews first, but I think that Suicide Squad is going to actually be the awesome romp that it promises on the tin.

So... we're up to three trailers featuring Captain BOOMERANG... a supervillain who uses BOOMERANGS... going into this one, I thought surely we would finally see him throw one..

He draws his boomerangs three times, and uses them as melee weapons, but still no sign of them being thrown.

However, kudous to Digger in the bar scene... I'm counting him being already 5 beers deep as everyone else is starting on their first round. Then again, it's probably American beer...
