Let's keep that Blue Exorcist train rolling!
With everyone in class has the day off from lectures, so with the free time, Rin invites himself along with Yukio has his brother goes to get some exorcism supplies. They use one of the portal keys and end up in a different part of the school complex...

But he wanders off and finds a gate...

After a bit of a misunderstanding and breaking the gate, he freaks out the girl. He tries to explain himself but then he notices that there is something up with her legs.
Later...

A bit later, Shiemi's mother and Yukio arrive...

Yukio says it's a demon causing it. However, she isn't possessed, just that there's a demon wrecking havoc with her feet. Kill the demon and she'll be fine!

They put her to bed to rest and the mother mentions how similar this is to what happened with her grandmother. She spent all of her time here in the garden, lost the use of her legs, and eventually died in an accident after being so weaken. The mother blames herself for not noticing all of this soon enough.
Then we get a flashback to Shiemi and her grandmother while the girl is asleep. It's all warm and fuzzy, but ends with Shiemi leaving her grandma alone for a while and coming back to find her crushed under some things.

Shiemi: As much as you need! This garden was grandma's treasure! You gotta protect it!
????: Then promise me... we'll protect it together forever...
She eventually wakes up and Rin is there waiting for her. He threatens to destroy the garden so she doesn't have anything to tie her down. He also asks her what is holding her back and abandoning the garden so she can get better...

She breaks down and starts crying, admitting she screwed up majorly. Rin promises to help her get rid of the root and Yukio shows, saying he can do that very easily.
However, the demon plant isn't going to let go of this girl without a fight...

The plant charges, but he shoots both of them. The plant freaks out and separate from the girl, letting Rin slash it to pieces. Turns out it was a bluff and the shot was just a blank.

The chapter ends with this...

And that is the entire first volume of Blue Exorcist. If you liked what you saw, make sure to check it and the rest of the series. Definitely recommended.

Date: 2016-04-16 05:37 pm (UTC)The anime starts to diverge with the camping arc, diverges dramatically with the trial, and follows a completely different plot afterwards.

Date: 2016-04-17 01:27 am (UTC)The ending just sounds asine and goes against some of the lore of the series, but more of my dissapointment comes from what the Manga later becomes, and how the anime despite having to end early doesn't really utilize it that well. You get some nonsensical filler and less maturity of the handling of the series.
